Well one thing is, is that there is so many books out there that you can purchase for it. Alot of them are difficult to follow and others are easier to follow. Some people take the test, don't pass and then turn around re-register wait there waiting period and just jump right back into taking the test to fast without really trying to figure out why they are weak in areas. I jumped 3 times taking my test in 2006 without really concentrate on what I was doing wrong, there goes $800 dollars down that drain and it doesn't include the re-registering fee. It is a hard test and they are wanting the best nurses to help people.
They want to know are we competent enough to be a good nurse, that is fair. I had people tell me that just because I didn't pass the test doen't mean I am not a good nurse. And I new I would be a damn good nurse. I finally settled down this year and tried to figure out the questions and rationals to the questions, why it was wrong and why i got it right. After answering so many questions, it finally comes to you what they are looking for. After a failed test you got to take a couple of weeks to relax and start studying again, and again!! Practice makes perfect and I did this majorly this year. Of course, you have people out there that will try to steal your shine but you kept on going and block out all that negativity and go for what you know and want, that's if you really want it. If you really want it, you will study hard at being successful on that test. Giving up will not do anything but depress you so you have to keep trying no matter what the cost.
A person said on her that every time she paid for her test that the NCLEX was hitting the lottery with her, I felt that too but I didn't give up. There is no way that we are going to remember all the drugs or disease out there I just studied what was in the book and a few others that was mentioned on this forum. I don't want to be the kind of person that passed my test and not pay it forward to help someone else. The test is a #@&*% but by gods will and lots of prayer, lots of focus, lots of believing, he got me though it this time.
I did not take 2 hundred questions a night and study everyday from sun up to sun down. I studied at my own paste and took as many test questions as I could everyday even if it was only a 10 question quiz sometimes, the brain has to breath, I still studied. Per my Friend Brandi, she suggested hanging cards of information on my mirror. That way you can study while getting ready for work. There you go studying and don't even realize it. I had flash cards all over my room. This may not work for others but it surely worked for me. First I was against flash cards, taking the time to make them up but I gave in and did them. I put on them, all of what I thought I needed to know like (lab values) for the test. Of course there is so much to learn and know but I broke down and did it. I think now If I have to study like this again, I am putting things on flash cards and take them where ever I go and studying every chance I get. I hope this helps anyone out there struggling on this test like I did.
Just FOCUS and BELIEVE in yourself. Slow down on answering the NCLEX question, read the question and know what they are asking. Sure there is test Anxiety, I had the worst test anxiety but I learned to calm down, and relax when in that NCLEX room taking the test, ear plugs, ear phones, this is suppose to block out all the noise and it is just you and the computer. I also stopped focusing on the time clock on the computer. It could tick away I wasn't hurrying through the most important test of my life again.
Now since I am an Licensed Practical Nurse. I think I will work in the field for a few years and than go for my RN. I don't care how much they higher the standards of the test, I will do it. Accomplishment just feel so good when you finally got it, your head is raised high in the air know that I just passed the craziest test in the world but you know what to be an RN I will take that crazy test again until I pass it. I feel that I can do anything in the world now since passing that crazy but good test, I was competent nurse when I passed that test, and that is what they are looking for, competent nursing. Well, Good Luck to everyone out there trying, don't give up (I didn't) and those who have passed try to help the ones that haven't. Have a Merry Christmas Everyone and a Happy New Year!!

liked ur post, great................
You are very welcome!! All the encouragement that I received off of this Allnurses forum gave me the faith and helped me to believe where there is a will there is a way to get this crazy but realistic test passed and over with. The NCLEX "is not" a piece of cake. I am not good with test at all, PERIOD. Until I relaxed myself, took away the test anxiety, realize, I know this MAN, I can do this. This is what I went to school for 17 mths for, than I could concentrate and sit down and pass my test. I just want to pay it forward and help others out on this forum that are having trouble with this Great NCLEX Test PN or RN, Allnurse Helped me through the storm and believe me, you I was in a storm. Believe in yourself and Focus on what you want, you got to really want it, not just to pass and get all the pay. But you got to really want to help people as the Nurse you have been trained to be. People are out there waiting for our help. Elderly, Children, Babies. You can not be successful just helping someone because you just increased your pay. This Quate is by a Speaker that spoke at my job during a Leadership Conference he said " People do not care how much you know until they find out how much you CARE". I can not wait to get out and start helping people, care for people and show them, I do care!! When I was in my nursing program, we watched Patch Adams with Robbin Williams and I tell you, Robbin did not care how much he was paid, he just wanted to help people and wanted to make them feel better and make them laugh and smile. Just by him doing this made the SICK happy and filled their lives with joy. I have a copy of Patch Adams in my DVD collections :nuke:. Just have faith!!

Hi fearlessleader09,
I studied from Saunders 3rd edition for LPN's and Prioritization, Delegation Assignment from Linda A. LaCharity, Candice K. Kumagai, and Barbara ISBN: 13-978-0-323-04407-3 or 0-323-04407-7. These books helped me and they also mentioned on this awesome site to study from these books when I was studying. You also need to know your precautions. There is a thread on here that totally lines them out and you can print them off. There is alot of great information on here that helped me with my test. Do questions, lots of questions, know your content. When you go to take your test this time, take your time answering the questions, understand what the questions is asking before you select your answer. Forget about the clock running in the corner of the screen, answer with the Best answer. Impress the NCLEX Lady, she wants all of us to be wonderful and competent nurses I got this information from the Hurst Review book for NCLEX for PN by Marlene Hurst!! Everyone is nervous about this crazy test and you have to calm down if you plan on passing. Remember to breathe doing the test. Write as much info on the board that they give you, that you can remember like... Maslow, ABC's, ABG's, Lab values, precautions, some diseases (if you can remember some). You can do this, calm down, relax and pray!! Good Luck to you!!
Yes, you can do did and all the others that are trying to take this crazy test and pass it once and for all!! Good Luck to you:up:

I failed the nclex rn last december. I am so overwhelmed. Every time i think about this test i start to cry. Most of my friends who took they pass. I felt so dumb. But after reading this thread it really boost up my confidence. Thank you very much.
mabama27 most of my friends who took the test passed it also. I felt dumb also. But as long as I kept feeling dumb, I couldn't pass my test, I could not go on with my life. I found this Forum and it changed my ways of thinking, I thought more positive and felt, I can do this, it just takes little more time for others and I am one of them. Everyone one here almost has went through something with this test, and so we encourage each other and share our stories and I don't think that is a bad thing to do. It really does help someone that is having a hard time feel better. Anyways, I took the test several times and that is because I was not understanding the questions and what it was asking and I really thought I was. While studying this time around, I took my time, read each question, understood what they was asking before I made the next move. I read the rationals even if I got the question right. When it came for me to take the test again, I passed by following those rules. You can do it mabama27, take your time, you can pass!!:) Have faith, pray, believe and stay focused!!
