The more I study the more I realize how much I still don't know!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Boy, oh boy! I am scheduled to take the NCLEX-PN this Monday (27th). I have been reading and doing the practice exams on the Saunders CD. I graduated top of my class but feel like I do not know diddly squat right now. Everything seems to be running together. :bugeyes: Gee, what drug has a side effect of nausea and vomiting....they almost ALL do. It's very hard to keep all of the signs and symptoms of these disorders in my brain. Anyway, I am panicking and doubting myself. I almost feel like not studying anymore and just taking the test. Either I know it or I don't. Any advice out there?

how did you do elnkb???? i am sure you did great! anxiety is still pretty high i bet. r u gonna do the pearsonvue trick?

omg way2barnp!!!!! i had 12 satas, 2 put in order questions, 2 medmath, plenty of prioritization, safety precautions, and bioterrorism, and 1 ekg (can u believe that?! i suck at those). oh also i had meds but suprisingly not a lot... there was only 1 i didn't recognized. all in all i had 75 questions....i felt better than the first time, only time will tell. i absolutely did the pearson vue trick and it said to contact the boards...a good sign right?!??

here in ny i can get my results in 2 days (thank god)...i'll let you know how i did.

how about you? any news yets?

lets hope we both make it!!!

:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

i think that's a good sign. i can get my quick results tomorrow as well, i am in florida. i didn't have any put in order questions or drug calculation questions! i did get a lot of sata though. lets keep our fingers crossed. i will keep you posted the minute i find out. way to go!

yeah, i'm terrified as well. i took kaplan and just recently found an application that gives me test questions on my itouch. it's from pepid, and is a cool little program that allows me to study on the bus on my way to class. just over a month to go... i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

that is pretty cool. i had a pda with a few nursing programs on it. i let the main battery die (accidently of course) and i lost everything!!! stupid me, i never saved the actual programs to my desktop computer and now the company wants me to purchase them all over again. i never studied any kaplan. i only used saunders 3rd edition and the cd. you will be just fine, i will keep my fingers crossed for you as well. good luck. :up::up:

Thanks for expressing the craziness that all of us waiting to test are feeling!:banghead: I test on Thurs. morning. My scores on practice questions don't seem high enough and all of the information is running together like mud! Just thinking about it makes me want to vomit!

One little tip from Kaplan that has really helped me (for those yet to test) was to make lists or focus pages. I have a list of 20 most common drugs (Mag sulfate, oxytocin, lithium, digoxin, etc.) and all the info on them. I have one on electrolytes, abg causes, standard/transmission precautions, major labs, obvious positioning ("good lung down"), and one for just memory aids (B=Brain/Babinski's versus K=knee/Kernig's). My favorite one is a glossary I've made for obscure terms (like Hirschsprung's disease, serum sickness reaction, and dysthymia) as I've gone through studying. That way I have a short review of major stuff I know I'll see on the test to peruse just before I head in. It condensed key items down a bit.

Good luck all and happy testing!

gee, can you email me all of your wonderful notes? hehe sounds like something good to have as i go on for my bsn. i am sure i will come up with many more wonderful study aids. i know one thing...i studied all the lab values (major ones) and they asked me some off the wall lab values (the ones i didn't study). i have to say, the nclex definetely keeps people on their toes.

I feel the same way. I will be taking my NCLEX RN May 11th for the 4th time and I feel like I don't know enough. I don't know whats up and down some days! I also want to know if the pass rate percentage goes up the more times you take it. I am looking at the candidate performance sheet that you get when you fail and I was above the pass rate in everything except one subject! Grrrr!!! Keep hope alive people and keep studying. I am using the Saunders 4th edition!

i don't think you will ever feel like you know enough. there is just no way to know everything about everything. i believe the pass rate percentage goes up the more times you take it because you are studing more and more for it. you will pass. believe in yourself and trust in what you know. (i should have listened to my own advice right b4 my test, but like you, i was a hot mess!

Way2barnp did u pass?????!!!!!! Tell me that u did!!! Praying for ya!
