The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

ok i just really always try to avoid stirring the pot, i felt bad, LOL! I worry to much about everything :)

Hahaha no...I just have noticed that those who haven't received an email bite the heads off the ones who have. And we didn't make the decision on who gets and email and who doesn't you know...I just think that getting mad/upset with someone who did receive an email isn't going to change the fact or make things better that you haven't received one. And if you read last years post there were like a ton of emails sent out and then nothing and then ppl started receiving emails again...so like I said if you haven't received one don't give up hope!!

Not sure if this will help anyone but I did get all the emails however my 1st email with the contract, W4 form and request for banking info was sent back to them as undeliverable...I was having email issues that Monday. When I recieved the 2nd email I was wondering why I never recieved the 1st so I called and they resent my 1st email that Thursday and I fax the documents immeadiately. I am first funding pref, my credit is terrible, I mean TERRIBLE...It couldn't be worse than it is right now. I'm not sure if they pulled my credit as I never checked. I am on medi-cal for health insurance so maybe they look at that stuff.....wanting to get people off that tpe of assistance...not to sure. If anyone recieved the 2nd email asking us to "stop calling" the one from Aurthur Williams, then you should have gotten the 1st email. That is who I called and he had the 1st email resent to me.

As far as the Pell Grant Money, it is my understanding we will still get that in addition to the scholarship $. This is from my financial aid dept at the school I'm going to. She said there are students from last year that got this scholarship and they are still getting grant money.

Hope this info helps! Good luck to everyone :)

oh my,im sorry! I didnt mean to make anyone "mad" :( I just no hoe nervous I have been thinking i may have made the smallest mistake that deemed my application incomplete. For one, I filled out my online application and then realized it said to do the supplemental info first. It says the online application must match the schools acceptence/good standing paper work EXACTLY. I have worried for months that i accidently put the 31st as a start date rather then the 30th!! Then I worried that the school official didnt put my full time status down...any of these little thing would make your application incomplete. So i have just been so worried. My thoughts are that many people will get knocked out of the running for this small things, because im sure more then 425 people applied last year...its says 425 "eligible" applicants. its all so scary huh!!

I worried about little things a lot too. I know for a fact that there was a mistake in my paperwork...but still got the emails. My program put the wrong ending date on the verification form (off by nearly 2 years!)....thus not matching the correct information I submitted through the online portion. I was soooo nervous that this would make my application incomplete. Apparently it didn't though...otherwise I would not have received any emails. I guess they are a little more lenient than they let on?

Is anyone else kiiiiiind of hoping we will hear something tomorrow...since it will be the 30th (an important date listed in the first email)? I know they have since retracted that date.....I guess I am just a wishful thinker!

I just dont see how we could possibly know today :( even though the email said we would know by the 30th it also said you info had to be returned by the 30th....which included the accept or reject portion. So if people still had till to day to accept or reject, theres no way they could have figured out who would get it. I still hope its today however, LOL. I think if it works out last year we should start hearing something in 12 days by mail!! Good luck everyone!

another email was sent out saying that we will know by august 23rd because of the overwhelming response. so take a breath an relax.

Hopefully they are still sending out more emails because someone in the 2nd group got emails and there are still people including myself in the 1st preference group that have not gotten anything...i know on the website it says they will give funding to the 1st group before heading to the 2nd preference group...maybe i should call and ask?

So i called and asked about the 2nd group getting it before 1st...they basically gave me the run around that just because someone got an email doesn't mean they got it....he told me he doesn't know if the 1st group would get it before the 2nd group he said he is not sure how this particular program works so he does not know. He told me i may still have a chance to get the funding even though i did not get emails. I dont know how much i believe this though. I feel like if i didn't get any emails im basically not getting it.

I call the center and was told there will be NO EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS. All notifications will go out by mail and that they will go out starting July 31.

Don't Forget: A WATCHED POT NEVER BOILS! They will send out the notifications eventually and it will be great news for those that get it!

Well let them start and be in all of our mailboxes monday or tuesday!! That would be GREAT news.

Sry I didnt mean to start anything about asking if people from second preference got the emails i was just curious. && as others have said I got my paper work done, checked it over, matched my online with my paper application, sent the application in before the deadline, had it certified, && had all documents including letters and everything in one packet. That being said, it is still impossible to know if i messed somehting up, just feel aggrevated that those who are in the 1st preference maybe got cheated due to their disorganization. Plan & simple

HRSA's disorganizaton that is
