The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.
To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

I'm not going to reapply for this either. It was a lot of work, all for nothing. I can see no reason why I shouldn't have gotten it. I have an EFC of 0, I'm full time, I have a high GPA, I had good essays and reference letters. If they didn't give me one this year, I can't see why they would give me one next year.
Fellow student nurses:
i understand that this is a roller coaster, and frustrating and upsetting, but I think we all need to practice some patience and grace.
We have applied for a scholarship which we KNEW we might not get. It seems that we should all work very hard to demonstrate positive attitudes and gratitude for the mere existence of the program, rather than entitled attitudes because we feel we deserve the scholarship and are mad that we didn't get it.
peace.

I really don't believe that they used the essays, references or the GPA. I think it was a waste of time. Not only did I have essays, very high GPA and references but I have also spent half of my work life working with low income families not including my volunteering. I am also a single mother with a 0 EFC. The whole point of the scholarship was for it to go to those who had interest in working with the underprivileged, not just that you have a 0 EFC.

I imagine that is mighty easy to say when it comes from someone who did get a notification.
They never said GPA was a factor in getting the scholarship. They may have asked for it on the school verification form, but the main thing that they required was an EFC of 0. I'm sorry, but just because I don't have a "Very high GPA" doesn't mean I don't deserve this. I had a great GPA until I started nursing school and half of my original class is gone because they failed out, so I am grateful for my ever-so-dwindling GPA.
Actually they did say that it was going to be a competitive scholarship this year and that it was for people who had a desire to work with the underprivileged. That is why all of the essays were around working with the underprivileged and your past experience working with the underprivileged.
No one said that having a higher GPA made anyone more deserving. I just would like to know exactly how they chose recipients.
Thank you..... I only said it was obvious that is not what they looked at but the primary purpose of this scholarship is to get people who want to work in the underprivileged sector through school. I believe they chose like they have all other years, luck of the draw.
