The HRSA Nursing Scholarship

Updated:   Published

The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.

How to Apply for a Scholarship

If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.

All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.

The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.

Scholarship requirements:

To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:

  • Nursing (including RN, ADN, BSN, and graduate-level nursing programs)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Certified Nurse-Midwife

You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.

Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.

Scholarship award covers:

  • Tuition and Eligible Fees
  • A monthly stipend for living expenses
  • An annual other reasonable costs payment

If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Bsn46383 which analyst do u have

To all does anyone in PA not have CL?

Dkc - it's my understanding that if u find out early enough about the scholarship, ur school can return & cancel ur loans, but from what I've read there is precious little chance of that ... so some ppl have simply returned their loans themselves but u still have to pay the orig fee. It seems that despite the fact that the hrsa website says they must be returned, u can actually keep them if u choose which might b useful if it takes as long 2 get the stipend payments this year as it did last

something tells me it's going to be a looong weekend. Good luck everyone!! =]

Thanks everyone for your prompt replies. Somehow when I reread some of the HRSA info it sounded as if they'd only pay if the tuition had been paid by scholarship or grant. So it's a huge relief to hear your take on the whole thing. I got a phone call on Aug. 3rd at 6am from HRSA asking me to sign an additional document and get it back to them asap and my credit was checked the same day. I guess I'm feeling hopeful about the scholarship, but it's not in the bag until I get that letter. For some reason, I'm pretty sure it's coming via US Postal Service.

Thanks again.

Yes I agree. We have the first test of our last year of school on monday morning, its over respiratory/trachs. So Im going to try to focus on studying for the test instead of worrying about the scholarship. After all school is the priority not the funding. This semester is said to be the hardest in my program.

Dont sweat it Alaska. The people who were contacted about fees only were contacted because the financial analysts couldnt find accurate data about their tuition and fees. Judging by the numbers, if you had your credit pulled, you have a pretty good chance. I had my credit pulled on 8/13. I recd all emails, but never recd any calls. However, I go to a Big Ten University in Indiana and the financial aid office at my school is world class. They are on the ball and know all about HRSA scholarship. I am not worried in the least that no one called me. I just let them do their thing. My analyst only had like 100 on our email list. I looked at the schools on our list and I saw the states covered were Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, KY, Ark, Iowa, Wisc, Connecticuit. That is just what I was able to tell from looking at where the schools were on the .edu emails.

Thanks, though my username is AlaskaEMT I recently moved from there and now live in Kentucky, the only place in there world where, "cornhole" is a family lawn sport.

Ooo what part of ky? I just moved here yesterday!!

HRsa will fund the school for your tuition -- but it happens late in the semester -- for instance, I have not gotten paid for summer yet - pretty sure spring came before the end of the semester. As far as your loans -- they won't pay them off, but when funding comes, you always have the ability to take the funding from the burser and write a check to your loan.

Just wondering...what was the additional document that you had to sign? I really hope it comes by email, I don't want to wait on snail mail..lol

check that; 124 on our list. So probably in the neighborhood of average of 150 per analyst times 5 is 750. I have seen that number elsewhere on here, so it adds up.

I have CF as my analyst, and on the email that I got there were only 54 names on the list...I don't know though if the lists were broken up, or if the emails for each analyst were sent out all at once.

I have CF too. I am very anxious and can't sleep about it. I think I will be disheartened if I do not get the email on Monday. Life will go on and so will my studies, but it would have been nice to help.I have a little one just starting first grade and it is just the 2 of us. Would make life a little easier.

I am with everyone else on this thred, I am anxious. I did get the emails, and a call, and a credit check. BUT I am still worried I wont get it. I really hope everyone on here gets this scholarship. If we dont I will be proud to work with each and every one of you. You all seem like people that will be great nurses. We will all be ok, with or without this scholarship! I almost had my electric cut off today... That would have been twice this summer. Life really knows how to hammer you! I am praying we all have a nice email waiting for us Monday Morning.... :uhoh3::nurse::bugeyes::dncgbby::anpom:
