The HRSA nursing scholarship is available now. I just submitted my application although I'm probably a long shot.
If you're interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, you may be eligible for a scholarship through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The HRSA Scholarship Program is designed to support students in various healthcare disciplines who are committed to serving underserved communities and helping to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.
HRSA offer scholarships to help pay for health professions' education.
All Scholarship awardees will provide a one-year service commitment for each year of scholarship support received.
The application cycle typically opens in late Winter or early Spring and closes in late Spring or early Summer, so be sure to check the website regularly for updates.
To be eligible for the HRSA Scholarship, you must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited program that leads to a degree in one of the following disciplines:
You must also be a U.S. citizen, a national, or permanent resident.
Have no federal judgment liens and service commitment.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for scholarship through the HRSA's online application system.
If you have any questions about the program or the application process, the HRSA offers resources and support to help guide you through the process. Don't miss out on the opportunity to receive financial assistance while pursuing your dream of a career in healthcare and serving those in need.

Hang in there, everyone. We will know soon!
I just combed through the guidance PDF and I think I still understand that we will only recieve payment for any month in which we have been in class at least 15 days. Who knows, though.
If I am blessed enough to receive this scholarship I will thank God and the HRSA for every penny I receive.

After reading it, I still interpret it same way as you! But someone from last year said they got payment for every month so let's hope we're wrong here!:yeah:
esokitty and krazievi, I agree that I read that Q&A in the FAQS the same way the first few times I read it, but then, after oklahoma said that I read the whole 37 pages again, and when you read the first part, pages 5, 8 and 9, especially, it never mentions any stipulations on receiving the stipend only for certain months.
It also clearly states on page 7 that the program year begins July 1, and even on page 40 (where the 15 days is mentioned) it says the "Fall Term" is July to October. So now I think (only because oklahoma said he (?) got the stipend each month) that the 15 days refers to the term not each month. I agree it is confusing but it seems to be saying you get it for ALL months as long as you've attending classes for 15 days in the term. And since that's a FAQ and not fine print, so to speak, I'd think it would have to mention somewhere else that you only got the stipend certain months. As I said to someone else, it actually makes sense to spread it out over a whole year since the commitment we make back to them is for a whole calendar year, not just 8 or 9 months.
I think it's the difference in reading it from the beginning, where it comes across one way, versus just reading the FAQs where it seems to be the opposite.
Not sure what that means for the one person who's not starting til late September since they may well not have been in school 15 days at that point, but that's beyond my ability to speculate LOL
I admit that I was going over the math in my head since I'm literally in class this month for 14 days, summer ended on the 12th, we start back the 30th, and I thought it'd be just about my luck to miss out on a month's worth of help by ONE day
But then I realized that is the definition of looking the gift horse in the mouth so I'm with esokitty in that I'd be grateful for any help I was blessed enough to receive. :redpinkhe
I have CL. Revieved all emails. School revieved and returned the info they needed to. Credit was checked 8/3 which is the same day she called me because she thought I needed to sign a 2 year contract.
So you would you say it is safe to assume that they are going to pay out the tuition to the school at the same time we would get our first check from them if we got the scholarship?
I have CL as well and have gotten all of the e-mails, school submitted their form but have not had a credit check. I had a look at both Equifax and Experian again. No dice. 0 EFC, 1st pref funding group, I wonder what the hold up is. I have 2 years left in my BSN. It's depressing knowing that a bunch of other people (who also have CL) have already had theirs checked. Only time will tell.
Hey, people who have CL or MC and received the emails but haven't had your credit checked yet. KH had pulled credits for some on here at the beginning of the month and then stopped and didn't pull any again until this past Fri. So maybe they are only allowed to do so many per week and plus not everyone who has received the emails posts on here. But I am pretty certain if you received the email they will pull your credit. I know it's discouraging and frustrating but don't give up yet:)
mll, r u the one whose last name starts near the middle?mll, the fact that u only have 1 year left seems to go with my very few multiple years included theory ...
Yes my name is basically in the middle. There are people on here though who have 2 years left of BSN and there are people on here who are just starting their ADN. My tuition is pretty cheap like yours so I mean I am a bargain....don't have to pay much and I have to service for 2 years. I just really wanted the stipend so that I didn't have to work. I know if I don't get it I will be okay. My loans have been pulled, and I have received a scholarship from school. Once everything is paid for with school I will get back over 5000 which I can make that work for the semester. But it would be nice not to have to worry.
Nursing school is hard enough with all the extra stress so try and not worry about the scholarship. Most of you when you applied to nursing school didn't even know about this scholarship, so you obviously thought about a way to pay for it before you found out about this. God always has a plan. But those who have kids, have to work, and go to nursing school this is something YOU don't need to be worried about. Believe me I had a really rough first semester of nursing school and somehow managed to pull out A's...between a 3 year old, her father's crap, being scared sh*tless, having a close friend commit suicide, and being worried about money...but some people don't deal with stress that way so just remember that it isn't the end of the world if you don't get it, but it could change your life if you do!!!
Well... I called HRSA and it certainly didn't make me feel any better. It seems that CL "has never updated anything about you on the list".
What does that mean?? Not like I can really find out since she's on vacation. I genuinely am okay with whatever happens... it just really stinks that our car breaks down right as I'm finding this out! And that there is no way to determine if this means that I have fallen through the cracks while my analyst is on vacation.... or if I am not supposed to be updated. If I am an alternate, that's fine... but if my file was supposed to be updated than it makes it sad....

RN2BLeslie, if u don't mind my asking, was your email to her of the 'did u receive my paperwork' type, or something else. I only ask, because I emailed her the week we all faxed our paperwork and never got a response, and didn't want to get on her bad side by asking again.
JoeNurse, yes that makes sense, although I think the diff in our tuition is so great that they could pay my whole 2 years with stipend for your 1 year, unless I'm confusing you with someone else. I figure the stipend's about 15.6k (1300 *12) then my tuition is around 2500 a semester, so ~10k, then round up to 4k for two years of ORC, and my entire 2 years only costs them around 30k. Only 30k, so reasonable ;-} 'course if I don't get it and reapply next year, they're saving a bundle LOL
I have to try and laugh about it, although my hopes aren't what they were last week:crying2:
and definitely FTStudentMom - I absolutely noticed it seems there's a bunch of us with CL who haven't been checked, although certainly several who have been as well, and the only other one who seems to have loose ends is JJ3.
KH seems the best, but of course we can only go by the few who post here, so who knows really ...

Oh, and sorry about abbreviating your names, I hope no one's offended, if so, please speak up and I'll stop !
Oh, and sorry to be so nosy, I've tried to stay calm throughout, but I admit, Thursday it all finally got to me and now I'm struggling to regain my composure. I know I'll still get through school without it ...
The funny thing is throughout that 37 page "guidance" PDF, it says multiple times in multiple ways that they wouldn't email us OR ask for our bank info UNLESS we GOT it. I don't know whether to cling to that, or beware of getting my hopes up about it ... It was that William or Andrew or whatever that guy's name was who told us not to contact them that mentioned "alternates" - but he was definitely the one with the updated info about the new notification date. Of course, he also said they'd contact us if they didn't get our paperwork ... and only KH seems to be doing that. I had hoped the only reason he put that loophole in there was in case the credit check came back with a problem.
