I am in Nursing 3 right now, and it has been a positive experience for me. What I like most about the school is the professors, they are so willing to help you and have an open door at most times. The classes are smaller, especially in the day program. Attend an open house and see if you like the vibe. The tuition is not bad compared to CUNY and they prepare you well for the NCLEX. The school is not perfect, but more than satisfies what I was looking for in a school. Apply sooner rather than later.

Good Luck!

Hey life_aknew,

I was wondering if you still applied to DH and if you did, were you accepted, and what was your score on your exam and your GPA.

Thanks

Hello-

Hopfer takes a range of students with regard to gpa, but the main focus is on the entrance exam. They like to see scores of 80% or higher because they feel it is a good predictor of success in Nursing school. The school has accepted people with lower scores in the past, but administration said they ended up failing or having a difficult time passing. Are you applying to the day program? There are less people applying for days. Good Luck!

Thank you Olivia you always seem so helpful to those of us on the site. I have a good feeling that the schools environment is reflected though your personality and your willingness to help.

I just sent my application out this week so now I am waiting to hear about scheduling my exam. My GPA is not so hot but it is not the worst either and I completed all 8 of my pre-reqs except for Pharm. I wanted to know if you have a rough estimate of the time line for a reply after submitting all documents.

I hope Im not bothering you too much.

No bother at all! I applied to the evening program, so I had a response in three weeks, but I applied rather late. As long as you have the required gpa, you will be able to take the test. Have to you spoken to Sandra Farrior in admissions? Email her and let her know your concerns, she is very upfront, honest and a nice person. She can guide you in the right direction.

The faculty is what matters in this school. Hopefully, you will have a good class environment and not let anything deter you from your goal. They do not make classes easy at all. They are going thru a turn around in Nursing 3 since that professor left 6 months ago, so that is a challenge the school has. No place is perfect, I work for another nursing school, so they all have issues. I see them from both sides, lol.

Thank for your kind words. Don't hesitate to contact me with more questions.

Olivia

Thank you again. I will post the events that take place with this process.

sorry i'm so late, but it seems that olivia (hi olivia!!!) answered ure questions. i didn't get to apply last year to dh as i wanted but that worked out because i still needed to finish some classes. i went to the open house last year and liked what i saw. plus 2 of the students spoke to us and let us know that we shouldn't take pharm outside of dh because the school wouldn't accept it. i think we have to go to the affiliate concordia, if im not mistaken.

well, good luck and please keep me posted.

Thank you Life aknew.

Hi Olivia! I am very interested in going to Hopfer for the Fall 2009 semester. I already applied, I am awaiting for the test date to take the entrance exam. I am looking for some insight (I see that you provide alot of great information) on admissions to this school. I know the admission is solely based on this test. On a scale from 1 to 10, how challenging would you rate the test. I am shooting to get into the 90th percentile being that my gpa is not really high up there. I mean i do meet the requirements, its just I am willing to put my all into the test so that it will be an easy ride to get into the school. I have most of the pre-reqs done as well. Do you think that is an advantage? Thank you for your time, it is greatly appreciated. Alsom if you have any more information that would help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You
