Guys, tell me the best places you've ever worked. The nicest people, the traveler friendly places. I need a new location.
HealthPark in Ft. Myers, FL -aside from the dreaded PBDS they are otherwise very traveler friendly, nice people and location.
Show Low, AZ - traveler friendly and nice location if you like smaller communities and outdoor activities - in the AZ mountains, so temperate weather even in midsummer, lots of good fishing, hiking, etc.
Flagstaff, AZ - bigger town than Show Low, more to do, similar climate.
If you like VERY SMALL towns and hospitals:
Winnemucca, NV - 24 bed hospital with wonderful staff (I extended twice and stayed 8 months), but again, the town is very small and out in the desert. It's about 2 hours from Reno, though, when you need a "big city" fix.
Arcadia, FL - small farming and ranching community in the center of south FL. Not much to do there, but not too far to anything you may want to do.
Just a few of my favorites off the top of my head - I'll probably think of more later and come back and add them.

Wow Wolf,
You have really experienced a lot. I am mostly interested in you summer as a medic smoke jumper. I have often thought of doing that since I am a professional skydiver, EMT, ER RN and was a full time firefighter for 3 years. How does one obtain a job such as that. It sounds perfect for me though I don't think that my new wife would agree with me. Thanks in advance.
Happy travels,
Jason

Virgin Islands.....by far the best location, Nursing is a little different, heavy workload, but like someone else said, ying with yang...the hospital uses a lot of travelers, the ED was nearly all travelers. My company had beachfront housing, fair pay and paid my flight. Going back someday....

My favorite city would be Baltimore, MD hands down but my favorite hospital would be NY Presbyterian-Columbia in NY. Very traveler friendly

I too am thinking about R.L.Schneider, Love St. Thomas, people are so nice and friendly. I emailed a nurse recruit for travel agency but I don't have enough experience - I'll keep trying however. good luck !

Why didn't you like Palm Springs....I turned down an offer at JFK in Palm Springs today. Just curious as to why you didn't like it. I want to make sure I make a good decision in case that opportunity comes up again. I would have worked Pediatrics.

I worked tele and loved the staff. When I started, Staffing told us that no matter what the contract said they "had a different contract with our company". I worked at Eisenhower. Nice place but the women who ran the orientation were not friendly and seemed like we were not wanted. The actual nurses are great and I made some friends that I will keep in contact with. Your typical pt is 80-90 yrs old. Because they come from colder places to have a warm winter. I didnt get around town much so I can't comment on that. If the pay was good I would go back to the same floor.
