Monday I sent a Little Darling home due to him having black "floaties" in his vision. When mom got here, she told me that the eye dr had called these ocular migraines. She said he did not understand why student has having so many since most people have one in their lifetime, maybe 2. I advised mom to take student to his regular dr and ask her if these could possibly be migraines with an aura. Mom said she would and have his regular dr call me if needed.
I walk in the door this morning and they are at the front office. Mom had paper work from a clinic in Houston. They went to the regular dr on Tuesday and she referred them the the clinic and they were able to get him in yesterday (Wednesday).
And guess what the diagnosis is......Migraines with aura.
I hate that for him, but glad he is getting treatment in a timely manner. Sometimes it is months before they can get into this clinic. I also love that the Dr. he is seeing was very thorough in the orders they sent.

Wow - I wish I could help kids get a referral and appointment that quickly. Usually I'm jumping up and down if Neuro can see them within a month.

That was super fast! Good job every one involved.
Mom said there was cancellation before she called. I'm so glad there was. I have seen kids suffer so much before they can get in. I know how frustrating migraines can be.

I'm extra excited for you!!
I feel like no matter what area of nursing you are in, the quick and accurate doctors are loved the very most since they are such a rare breed.
