As a tech, I never knew how appreciated I truly was until I became a nurse who then REALLY appreciated the techs!! When I was a tech, my nurses would always thank me for all that I did, but I didn't really get it until I was on the other side of the equation. A good/great tech can make or break a shift. Lately we've been very short on techs, and man, do we feel it! Ouch.
What a great post VirgoRN! I agree with you wholeheartedly, they work hard and are paid the least. We have had many issues with a few of the young nursing student techs that seem to feel that they are too good to do tech jobs but we have some that are just as you say. I love my techs as a whole...THANK YOU!
As a nursing student and an ER tech, thank you for your appreciation! I try to do what I can for the nurses to help them out. I think that anytime I am busy, I imagine how they must feel with all the additional charting, meds, stuff like that. I thank the nurses for answering every question I have and for helping me in my studies. And I hope that one day, when I am a nurse, I have a tech like myself who will do what he/she can to help me. Thanks for showing the love!

Thank you for all of your hard work. There is only one of you in my zone and three nurses, and if we are busy, I know you must be too.
Thank you for putting an 18g. in that pt. that's been here fifteen times this year and thinks that if she asks nicely, we won't know she's working the system; I didn't ask you to put in an 18, but I was thinking it.
Thank you to the tech who pinned the psychotic patient to the wall so fast, she never knew what hit her, after she knocked her nurse to the floor on purpose trying to make a run for it.
Thank you for being so great with that little kid with a broken arm, and taking the time to teach me about splints. I know it slows you down, but I should let you know, you're a great teacher!
You left at the end of the shift before I could thank you. So, thank you! :redbeathe
