Anyone applying to Texas Women University? I recently attended an information session and spoke to Ms.Victoria the nursing coordinator for TWU. What are your stats? What advice to you give when studying for the TEAS? I know you have to apply for TWU first then get accepted. Then you apply to TWU NURSING. But I am somewhat confused on that process. I went to the apply portal and it does not give me the option to apply for FAll of 2016. I may have to wait. Any current TWU students that can give me any advice on the application process. It will be of great help. Thank you!
Hi Moni,
To apply to TWU, you must complete the nursing CAS forms available at the nursing CAS website. Within that website, you must have your transcripts sent to CAS from each university/college attended (the same process you used to gain admission to TWU). You must also input into the website all courses taken even though they are listed on the transcript. The cost excluding transcripts is $60.
60? I thought it was 45. And I understand we just need to input the pre-requisites from the online packet, not every course.
Last week I saw a downloadable form that should be attached to each transcript sent to nursingcas. One of the universities I went to just sends online transcripts so IDK what will happen there. The system is a bit redundant IMHO.
I quickly checked the website and I can't access my account. The TWU site tells people to wait anyway.
I thought it was $60, but I maybe wrong. I remember it being more than the $30 we sent directly to TWU nursing department to start our application to the nursing school. I received an email from Heather Close stating that we need to input absolutely every single college course we have taken. Maybe that has changed so that we input only the needed pre-requisites. I hope so! How does the downloadable form work? CAS will ask for transcripts electronically, I believe. Since we are requesting this transcript electronically via CAS, then how can we control the form that is sent from the school to the CAS website? I'm getting a headache about all this. I hope that TWU gets this up soon so problems can be ironed out long before 2/1/16.
I got an email from nursingCAS today and, yes, we need to input every. Single. Class we've taken. I already have a bachelor's and I've taken classes in different universities so it's a pain. Why do you think we need to order transcripts electronically through nursingCAS? After I added the universities I got a link for a form to be sent to each one of them. Another pain because one of them only sends transcripts online through an external company so sending them the nursing CAS form to be attached to the transcript will be complicated (see pic.)
It bothers me that we can't send them official transcripts instead. It would be quicker and easier. Everything seems excessively complicated. Oh well...
BTW Which $30 for the nursing department? I thought we only had to pay for ApplyTexas and NursingCAS. I even checked Pioneer Portal to see if I was missing something and it redirected me to Nursing CAS.
I know! I got the same thing. I just had the colleges I attended send it to Nursing CAS without the attached form. There is no way to intercede the transcript and attach that form to it. I have a bachelor's, associates, and a masters degree plus a lot of undergrad work after that for my nursing pre-reqs. You can pay $150 to CAS to have them enter in manually all the classes so I think that is what I will do. I literally have hundreds of classes to enter. I don't understand all the redundancy either as well as some of the nursing advisers here in Houston but it is the decision of the Dean that stands. I have to spend more money to have the National Clearinghouse, the third party that I order transcripts from, to send all of these (5) transcripts to CAS. I'm not happy either, in addition to paying CAS more money for this application to the nursing department. I guess we are the "lucky first class" to have to go through all this. Before this semester, you filled out a piece of paper and sent it to the nursing department along with $30 and that was all you had to do. Totally redundant with all the crap they make you sent into CAS when they, the TWU school of nursing, have ready access to it all!
On top of that, I emailed nursing@twu and they still tell me to wait this week. The twu website says that nursingcas is down. I'll just input my grades for now and wait. I hate pending stuff but the system doesn't seem reliable right now.
Please let us know what they say about sending the official transcripts without the form.
May I ask what were you doing before applying to nursing? I come from education.
I hope the transcripts will make it. There is no other way we can have National Clearinghouse, who sends thousands of transcripts a day, to stop for a second to attach and send some lame form that would be discarded anyhow when nursing CAS receives it.
I am soon to be "was in education" as well. I will be retiring the end of this school year in June after 29 years of teaching and will be living off my annuity from the state. Nursing will be my second career.
Hi all! Just thought I'd leave some updates from what I've seen the past week or so. I was able choose the TWU Fall 2016 program on CAS on Friday, so hopefully everyone has the same experience. Also, I didn't even bother trying to get my colleges to attach the cover sheet because it's too much of a hassle through National Clearinghouse. One of my transcripts is already showing that it has been received on the CAS website, so I think it will work out. I would just go ahead and send them to give yourself plenty of wiggle room in case something goes wrong. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

runshannierun - Yes, that is correct. You must send transcripts to both TWU for acceptance, as well as CAS. They must come from the sending college, your transcripts are not official. You must also manually input all your courses into CAS (even though they have your transcripts). Can you say "redundant"? I hope this makes sense to you. I'm questioning why????
