Texas Woman's University (TWU) Fall 2024

Published

Hey there everyone,

Noticed no one made a topic for the twu fall 2024 cohort applications yet so I thought I would do it. Maybe it's just too early, but Im itching to get started! Has anyone already taken TEAS and finished all prerequisites? I'm nervous because I'm transferring in with no previous bachelors so I have no preference.

Does anyone know if we will be wearing scrubs every day to school? Trying to figure out how many sets I should purchase.

Thanks!

The PDF said they recommend 2 sets, I would imagine we're going to wear them for lab and clinicals. Are you going to order them online? I can't find any pictures or sizing information, and I don't know which lab coat already comes with the embroidered patch.

There's also going to be a Dallas open house on the 13th. The bookstore might have scrubs so we can see them in person.

I saw they recommended the 2 sets, I was just curious how many days per week that would be. I saw them online under school supplies - specialty supplies - medical. I looked up the specific brand and fit to look at sizing, and I am considering calling Denton to see if they have any in stock to try on. I have zero clue on the lab coat ! There are tons on there and I can't tell the difference.

I so wish I could go! I had already bought tickets to an event for the 13th or I would be there!!

You can also buy them at orientation probably

No! You wear them for clinicals/lab. For the first semester you have classes 2 days a week(always can wear normal clothes), then 1 lab day and 1 clinical day and those are scrubs only.

Congrats on those who got in! For those that are still waiting on a response, hold out hope!

I am finishing my my second semester of the program so if yall have any questions, feel free to ask 🙂

How do you like it? I'm trying to see if I want to do this program or go with the ADN I got into. I'm just nervous because I'll be driving 40 mins so I want to make sure this program is worth the drive.

Thank you!! Do we register for classes ourselves or are we placed in them with the program. I was considering taking path online when fall semester begins.

can you give us an example of what our first weeks will look like? What do you wish you knew when you began your first semester?

Thank you!!

Valid concern. A lot of classmates are driving 40 min or more. It sounds miserable.  I def picked TWU because of how close the Dallas campus is because for me, it makes such a difference to be so close.  It is a great program though.  Lots of hospitals take ADN thankfully so I think it just comes down to what matters the most to you.  For me, school was stressful enough so I didn't want to have a long commute before and after long days.

Don't need to register as that is all done during orientation in May.  The only class that isn't apart of the nursing program is patho so you can def go ahead and look at the professors offered for Summer and fall.  It is online so you can take any professor regardless of the campus, I took Serrano because she had the best rate my professor reviews so I also waited to take patho in the Fall! Besides patho, you take all the same classes as everyone else in your cohort so you're given specific codes when the time gets closer so don't worry about those 🙂 the days of fighting for a spot in a class you want is long gone.

as for the first few weeks, it can feel a little overwhelming because it's a lot thrown at ya at once.  You will have 2 days a week of lecture and 2 days of lab, with one of the lab days turning into your clinical day aka when you go to the hospital. However you won't be at the hospital until mid October. Orientation does a good job at helping you know what you can expect for the first semester!

I'm looking at the open house registration. Is this intended for incoming freshmen or can we accepted nursing students join? Haha, I would love to go regardless just curious before I take someones spot!

You are awesome for taking the time to answer our questions!! I am hoping to take Serrano also, for your same reasons.

One last question from me, how do clinical assignments work? Did you get your top pick of location? Do you move  around or are you at the same hospital for the entire program?
