For all u guys that have an interview coming up, my question is... have u done your research? Cos if you had, you would have come across my post from dec outlining exactly what the interview process would be like...as a matter of fact, it's just a few posts down. Once again, here it is:

I interviewed with TWU in November...the first thing they do when you get to the office is give you a headset to watch a video presentation on the school while answering questions on what you are seeing in the video. Afterwards you head back to the office, sit and wait for your interview. Here are some of the questions you might encounter:

1. Why TWU?

2. Why do u wanna be a crna?

3. Have u shadowed?

4. What kind of icu do you work in?

5. What kind of pt's do you take care of? (make sure you ONLY mention the pt types, medications and lab values that you understand well because they will ask you to elaborate)

6. If your chosen clinical site is full, are you willing to go any where else?

7. Know your fractions...they will try to throw you off by asking you the percentage of a fraction.

8. Any questions? pls have questions for them, it signifies interest and pro activeness.

Above all, if you know your stuff you'll have no reason to be scared or nervous. Exhibit passion and confidence and you'll come out on top.

Me too!! I'm trying to find a site where we can kinda get to know each other. I'm also looking for a classmate/roommate starting August 2016 so a facebook group would be helpful. Let me know if you find one. I'll keep looking too!

Specializes in CCRN.

TWU CRNA class of 2018 is a group on Facebook. There are only a few members right now, but it's a start! I will also be looking for a roommate in August.

Hey, I'm filling out an app for next year, and I was just wondering if everyone listed all of the schools they applied to on their app? Do they look down on people who apply to multiple schools? I'm thinking it can be looked at both ways, and I'm just wondering what you guys all put.

I only applied to TWU. But I remember them asking me in my interview if I applied anywhere else and why I wanted to go to TWU. I would definitely be honest with your answer instead of trying to answer what you think they want to hear. Good luck with your application process!

Can someone shine some light my way....

I will be applying to TWU CRNA 2017 start date. Wanted to receive some input on my background and what I could do to increase my chances of acceptance into the program.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and an Associates in Nursing. This month will be six years since I became an RN. I have been extremely fortunate to have started working in a PICU from day one. I was also crossed trained to work in the NICU six months after. I continue to work in these departments in an Advanced Level III Hospital. I recently obtained my RNC-NIC, which is an equivalent to the CCRN in NICU.

Cumulative GPA of 3.07, Nursing GPA was approximately a 3.4, still pending to take my GRE and a Chemistry course to meet requirements.

TWU offers an RN to MSNA program. A bachelors degree can be in another field.

I unfortunately did not do as well in my early course work, and worry that these stats wont be competitive enough. Not sure of I should retake some courses or obtain a BSN in order to boost my GPA.

Any opinions and suggestions are welcome.

Thank you

Sadly, with your current situation, you are a very weak candidate. Just trying to be objective and honest. Not trying to sound harsh. Your GPA is marginal at best, and your work experience is less than ideal. Both can be overcome, and are not absolutes, but taken together, they make you a marginal candidate. Rather than finding the one school who will take you as is, I would work to strengthen my candidacy, and in a few years, apply to other schools. Get some adult experience. Take some graduate courses in science or stats and DO WELL. Get your CCRN, and any other certification you can. Shadow as much as you can. Do will on your GRE. I dont know if TWU even requires the GRE, but a good score will help them see you have potential. If you score less than 300, it is probably time to look for your career in a new direction. It is not hard to figure out how to make yourself better, maybe you should make sure you can actually do some graduate level course work before you spend thousands of dollars, quit your job, relocate, and then do poorly. Good luck.

I would visit the school you are interested in and ask them if you are a strong or weak candidate based on your current GPA and experience. They will tell you exactly what you should do in order to improve your candidacy into a CRNA program. TWU looks at your last 60 GPA, science GPA, and overall GPA. So it sounds like a cumulative of 3.07 is not strong enough for TWU. For example, I got in with a last 60 of 4.0, science of 3.25, and cumulative of 3.84. I had 5 years adult ICU experience ranging from surgical, trauma, neuro, cv, and medical. Definitely take an upper level science and make an A in it to get your GPA up. Good luck!

Thank you for taking time to reply and give me feedback.
