Hello! This might be a little early, but I wanted to create a group for those applying to Texas Tech ABSN 2024. With applications due in the coming months, I was hoping to have this space for anyone to submit tips or questions that may come up. Thanks!
I'm going to ask financial aid how much of my federal aid I haven't maxed out and compare it to the total price of the program. I only have 13K in student loans from undergrad. And I know that dependent students can take out up to 31-32k LOL have to double check. But for sure up to 7500 a year in federal loans. According to FAFSA
"Third Year and Beyond Undergraduate Student Annual Loan Limit
$7,500 per year-No more than $5,500 of this amount may be in subsidized"
Also Double check how much of your Pell grant is left even one semester of Pell grant eligibility counts. And then hammer scholarships. Independent students get more federal loan eligibility up to 12,500 in a year. I'm currently at 8,000 saved and if I can get 50% tuition covered out of pocket I don't mind 50% loans I'd just prefer federal vs private.
I just checked and the federal loan limit according to FAFSA is $31,000-No more than $23,000 of this amount may be in subsidized loans as a undergraduate dependent student and for independent students the max loan is $57,500 for undergraduates-No more than $23,000 of this amount may be in subsidized loans. Just for reference
This is actually so helpful thank you! This is my first time completing FAFSA so it's a bit confusing esp already having a degree
Ultimately though, I think using mostly FAFSA and paying out of pocket will be my plan! Worst case if there is no acceptance I see it as another year to save up ?
Hi! I just stumbled upon this community. I'm pretty anxious about the results of the secondary application ?
I don't want to be a debbie downer but does anyone else have other schools in mind for ABSN? I didn't really have other options in line 'cause I was waaaay to confident about getting into TTU LOL
LOL I definitely understand, I'm praying I get into tech. I've seen people get denied from the ABSN and get accepted into the traditional and vice versa. So as long as you put your best into your application material and met stats you'll get a fair review. For a decent cost price similar to TTU I applied to UT Tyler BSN, UTHSCSA Accelerated BSN, UH accelerated BSN and I'm going to apply to UTMB Summer 24 since it's a 16 month program pending admission results from this cycle. I also applied to Baylor and just planned on take out full loans for that school. The others are more in my range.

This is the only school I applied to ??♀️ that is affordable, but I'm also an Alumni so I'm hoping that helps me but If not I am going to get my master in health administration from them.

Definitely agreed, I'd just love to know where my new home will be, I'm currently in Houston Texas I'd stay here for Baylor. I'll drive to San Antonio 2 hrs away and stay with my sister if I get into SA campus, and I'll go to my parents if I get into the Amarillo campus. Vs Tyler Texas
I look forward to everyone getting their decisions!!
