Is it too early to start one? I couldn't find one. Maybe too early?

I am planning on applying to the TT 2nd degree BSN program in May in hopes to begin in January 2017.

Anyone else?? Anyone in the program currently or recently have any info to share??

Thanks!!

Guys....I know this might be a silly question, but is a BLS course sufficient for the BLS CPR requirement? Many of the courses I am searching for are only BLS. Thanks! =)

Hey PROMIX4HIM,

I had called twice yesterday but she was out of the office both times. I left my name, number, and email but I hadn't heard back from her. I bet this was a busy week for them. What was your experience? Just so I have an idea if I will or will not need to take the class. I have taken the EMT-B class and worked as a certified EMT in Illinois a few years ago. I am now working as a CA in the NICU at Dell Children's Medical Center and have been here for over 2 years now. Hopefully that will be enough.

I took one that was specific for healthcare workers. It was 4 hours. I know that didn't answer your question. If you were in Austin I could recommend a great place.

And I'm happy for you that you don't have to take the CNA class. One less thing to pay for and a little more down time before the craziness next year.

@promix4him, what type of job fulfills the CNA requirement so that you don't have to take the course? And do we need BON approval before program starts or just as long as it's done before taking NCLEX?? I read something about being able to start "conditionally" if BON paperwork was still in review

Anyone know if the BON has to finish reviewing everything before we can start the program or just in order to get licensed??

BLS is Basic Life Support. You'll learn CPR, rescue breathing and the Heimlich maneuver.

I can't find your facebook page! :(

sorry! did you find it? Texas Tech 2nd Degree BSN 2017 Austin

I work at Seton Main ER. I believe that should do. You just need to get a letter from your manager stating your date of employment and and itemizing your job description. You can also download your job description from Seton intranet (my ascension) and attach to the letter.

The letter stated "Those who do not complete a criminal background check are ineligible for admission in the nursing program."

Yup, BLS includes CPR :) Just make sure it's AHA.

Got my Merlin email! :)
