Is it too early to start one? I couldn't find one. Maybe too early?
I am planning on applying to the TT 2nd degree BSN program in May in hopes to begin in January 2017.
Anyone else?? Anyone in the program currently or recently have any info to share??
Thanks!!
Does anyone have plans on working part time while being in the program?? I know the way the program is set up seems pretty intense but I have this really good job offer that could help me with fees, books, expenses, as well as experience. I guess the question is, do ya'll think its doable?
It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you do not work during this program, as it is very demanding. I know someone in the 2016 cohort who tried working but had to quit the job when the heat of the program was turned on. But then, it all depends on you, your background and tenacity.
Impossible is nothing.
I know 2 people who have completed this program. One of them worked PRN (like once a month) and said she would have worked more but she wanted to spend what extra time she had with her kids. And the other worked part time and said it was hard but doable. I think I will try to work part time just so I can get the tuition reimbursement offered by my hospital. Also, I am lucky enough to have a job that has some down time during which I can study. I will be letting my manager know my circumstances and that if I am overwhelmed with work and school that I will be cutting my hours.

How is much is the tuition reimbursement? The full tuition?
I work at Dell Children's (a Seton hospital). It's $2000 year for part time and $3000 for full time per fiscal year and it's based on how much you are working when you apply. So I can get $5000 as I will be applying for the first time after we get our class schedule while I'm still full time. Then again for the fall semester (fiscal year ends in June or July) whie working PT. I will also be applying for a scholarship offered by Seton that's only offered to full and part time employees that is $4000 and is mainly given to those seeking a BSN. I just can't say no to a possible $9000 knock off of tuition. So not full tuition reimbursement but not bad either.
So you would have to work full time to get the $9000 for the year? I'm a little confused cause you said $3000 for full time. I guess that's $3000 on top of the 2k? Well, it sounds great to get $9000 knocked off the tuition. It do you have to work full time to do that? Because I would not be able to do that. Just from personal experience of being in an accelerated program before (until I got into a car accident that knocked me out of my block) I wasn't working at the time and it was very compact. That was a 15 month program so it allotted for a little more time. Honestly I've been a little nervous to see how this 12 month program is going to play out.

Because the fiscal year ends in June or July I can apply twice for the reimbursement once for the 2016-2017 fiscal year while working full time ($3000) before the program starts then again while working part time (+ $2000) for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.
I also was fingerprinted on August 30th and my blue card was in the mail when I returned from vacation on September 14th.

The acceptance email I got from Elizabeth about Merlin said it could take 2-3 weeks and it's only been 1 week and 1 day. I probably wouldn't worry if you haven't gotten yours yet. I'm in the same boat! :)
