I am in the process and would love to know if you have any suggestions about how to approach the essay and resume portions of the application. I am a BSN-RN. My ADN GPA: 3.85 and my RN-BSN GPA: 4.0. I have been an RN for 5 years. I worked on a Med-Surg unit for 1 year, OR for 3 years, Medical Device QA for 11 mos. and currently work in Mental Health Outpatient Clinics full-time. I have always wanted to specialize in a Psych and just started in the BH clinics. I absolutely love it and have found my niche for sure. Hoping and praying that TTUHSC might consider me for PMHNP.
Yeah, I really don't know. I read everything I could on the website and didn't see the interview thing, but those websites are annoying to navigate, I could have missed it.
I will post on Thursday if I learn anything further. Mine is at 9:40am CST.
I feel like a lot of really competitive people apply, so idk how they choose. By their essays it seems they are looking for candidates who stand out and will bring something fresh to their program population. While they were open ended I think they are looking for relatively specific types of answers but in a diverse group of people if that makes sense.
It went really well! They asked about 5-6 questions. Nothing too crazy. Be prepared to say why TTHSUC, which I am sure you already knew that. Other than that just simple interview questions. Good luck!
They told me they would have final decisions out next week.
@Pt1677 and @TacoNurse13 Did they mention on stats? How many applied or how many they were taking? Are the notifications going to be sent initially via e-mail?
@1dayanurse there were 3 interviewers. They asked why you are choosing psych, a few behavioral questions like tell me a time you had conflict with peers or didn't agree with a treatment plan, and asked how would you handle the workload with school, clinical, jobs, and family. Nothing too scary or crazy.
@LLC215 they did not mention anything about stats, how many applied, or their selection method. They did say that we would be notified via email by next Friday.
Yeah I am sure they probably didn’t or if they let anyone ask questions beyond the interview part. Okay, awesome to hear. Thanks for letting us know on the interview. ?
