Texas Tech FNP Spring 2014

Nursing Students NP Students

Just wondering if any nurses out there have submitted applications for the spring 2014 FNP program. Would like to hear any information you have gotten from admissions office on how many people they plan to accept, and how long it will take them to send out acceptance/denial letters. Lets keep in touch and keep those fingers crossed!!!

I was accepted to the ACNP program for spring 2014. Noodlemoore, are you going to FNP or ACNP?

Look into Maryville University. They seem to have a good program.

I am going into the FNP! Texas Tech hasa fabulous reputation here in Texas, you can't go wrong with them. I did my RN-BSN with them online and the Instructors are amazing, the lines of communication are always open, and they really value you as a student. I was accepted to Texas A&M Corpus as well, but my first choice is TTUHSC.

I know we have to travel to Lubbock a few times a year as well, so that is something to consider....but when picking a Grad school, pick the one that fits for you and your family's needs :)

I look forward to meeting everyone at orientation!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!

I am soooo torn between Texas Tech and UTEP. I got into both PLUS a couple in DC but nixed them out of distance. I did my BSN at Texas Tech and loved the organization and professors. However, it's a 3 year part time program. Whereas I live closer to UTEP, it's a 2 year full-time program, and is gaining a better reputation but still a school trying to organize and establish a strong foundation. Before you ask, yes I work and yes I have young kids. I know Texas Tech is the better school for me but (and I know this is going to sound ridiculous) the thought of going to TTU makes me nauseas. I'm not sure if it's nerves, excitement, or my sixth sense saying it's a bad decision. I felt this way before and during my BSN and am super proud to be an alumni. Help?!?!?!?!

Does this program really take 3 years to complete? Is there no way to take additional classes each semester to shorten the length?

It is 8 semesters, including Summer semesters. There is no option to take additional courses

Oh darn. I was accepted a few days ago and now I'm wondering whether I should have applied there in the first place. I thought it would be at most 6 semesters long.

I just got accepted into the Fall 2014 ACNP program at Texas Tech. So I gotta ask....How did the firs semester go?

It was great! The Instructors and wonderful! Group projects, lots of online forum postings and research papers...so if that's your cup of tea, you'll love the research and health policy courses the first semester. No travel to Lubbock until the third semester :)

What's two extra semesters? It gives students time to absorb the information and have time to work and be with their family.

Thanks noodle more. I did their online RN-BSN and that pretty much sounds the same. How many hours per week did you spend on school work?

This semester, about 8-12
