Hi Alli, I have a question about the lecture. I know it is all online. How do you feel about taking the online classes so far with Texas Tech? Do you enjoy that? I am wondering if I should apply since the lecture is online. I am not sure if the online class will be well-prepared for us?

Thank you in advance.

@mking128 there really wasn’t any lecture, it was all self study. They told us the material that we were expected to know and we were responsible for learning it. For me, the textbook was most helpful but I know some classmates preferred Youtube instructors. I liked the program bc it allowed me to study on my own time schedule and as a mom that worked well for me but the lack of structure definitely isn’t for everyone

I applied to the San Antonio cohort last semester and they only accepted 8 students this year due to lack of educators and supervisors. I had great scores on everything but it all comes down to how you do on your interview and if you’re lucky to be one of the few chosen ones since there are so many great candidates

I am in the SA cohort currently. They accepted about 17-18 students including both second degree and VBSN.

Oh wow. An advisor told me different. Good to know. I thought I totally got ripped off haha. Thank you

Anyone who is currently enrolled in this program available to give an update on how the program is going this year and whether you would recommend pursuing for 2023? Thanks!!

The program is self taught so it requires you to be SUPER disciplined! If you are someone that needs lecture or PowerPoints this is not the program. They give some info out but not enough to learn the concept. You do that on your own. Quite a few people failed out the program in my cohort the first semester.  It goes quick with A LOT of information. It’s doable but it requires a lot from you. You have to be flexible. Remember you’re condensing a BSN program down to 10 months.

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback on the school. I have a few more questions. Is it like no lecture videos or there are still lecture videos? What helped you going through classes? What do you think about the school and the program?

thank you in advance

There are no lectures or lecture videos. I read the required books and I have SimpleNursing subscription (which is the best), nursing in the making, and Cathy parks. The school is good, the professors are super nice & supportive and I think I’m biased about the program. I knew before I started that they give the bare minimum so I was mentally prepared to teach myself. Most of my time is spent studying but I do try to balance a personal life.  So I say if you aren’t comfortable learning on your own try a more traditional/in class ABSN route like a 15 month program.  You don’t get any failures, if you fail a class (below a 75) you get kicked out, no appeal, no re-entry. Failing is test average. Like the class we are in now only has 2 tests so if the avg of those two tests are below a 75 you are out the program. Tests can cover anywhere between 6-12 chapters within a two week period, and keep in mind you’ll have 3-4 other classes as well.

It’s very doable and the clinical component of the program is THE BEST. Tech has the most clinicals hours out of a lot of programs. We go twice a week. This is where what you learn in the book comes to life and it makes sense!

I plan on applying for the fall 2022 cohort, can anyone accepted in the program help on knowing the process of your acceptance? Also, anyone who has been accepted, can you list your stats? Overall GPA? Science GPA? How long after you submit your application were you given an evaluation?

I feel like there's been an free online CNA course that's approved, does anyone have this info they can share?

I think that free program was temporary during COVID. I would check with the program to make sure they are approving that one still.

Does anyone whose been accepted know how long it takes to hear back from anyone? I attended the webinar and they mentioned once your application is submitted and transcripts are received, they would email regarding a transcript evaluation, but I want to know how long does it take receive that?
