I haven't seen a thread for those of us applying May 1st to the January 2020 cohort. I'm wondering how heavily they weigh the TEAS. Also, I have heard as long as you meet all criteria they typically give you an interview. Has anyone else heard this? I really like how they take a holistic approach to grant admissions. I'm wanting to apply to UTA but I feel like the main way you get extra points is by attending school there which I did not do! We'll see!

Best advice I can give is to take a good look at who you are and figure out how you can best express yourself in a way that defines you and your unique qualities. It's super general I know, but the best thing you can ever do for yourself is be introspective, it will help with the whole process. This site seems like a good start for practice questions: https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/interviewing/nursing-school-interview-questions. The questions they ask are going to be pretty general. What are your strengths and weaknesses? Tell us a time when things didn't go right and what did you do about it? Start getting your things together now like all your transcripts and immunizations. You'll want to start sending that stuff as soon as the application window opens because there will be some snafus along the way with the registration office losing things or wanting more clarification etc. Be patient, they get a ton of applicants and its easy for them to get stuff mixed up or take awhile for it to populate on your account page. Also be proactive and call people if you don't start seeing stuff on the account after the specific timelines.
That's all I really did to prepare. I never eneded up asking my classmates what they were asked. I was asked alot of questions about my personal support system. Honestly it was kind of a blur of 30 minutes?♀️

The program begins in Jan, graduation is in December! I graduated in Dec 2019 (Wreck em!). I don't think anyone in my specific cohort is in the NICU but more than half of us are employed in the ICU, one student even is in the OR which is definitely not super common.
3 of my classmates were also hired at Dell Children's, one in the PICU, and Dell doesn't hire "just anyone" so our program has really great street cred...it also produces just fantastic nurses. SO...all that to say: if NICU is your dream job, GO for it and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Yes. Previous Bachelor's and all the prerequisites if the original degree did not include them. Tech also has a traditional program. I believe it has cohorts at the same locations as the accelerated and they start year around now (at least in my area).

A caveat to the answer posted above by @AMDins, if you were an Army medic or Navy corpsman you can apply to the accelerated program without a bachelors degree via the VBSN section. Same coursework, same classmates and for the most part the same prereqs but you have the ability to test out of a few of the courses.

Which area? I’m finding Lubbock, Abilene, and El Paso.

All the knowledge I have in my head NEVER goes down on paper or exams well because I over think and make a mistake or choose the wrong answers because I over thought it. My GPA apply was 2.9 cumulative and 2.7 for science. I will say I have SIGNIFICANT work experience and on reflection I believe that was a big part of how I got in as well as I tested well on TEAS with advanced scores in most areas. Hope that helps!
My GPA at the end of first semester looks like it will be 3.2 or higher. It's really am amazing school with amazing professors to help you learn.
Hi @bjensen4! I have a few questions for you, please. May I email you? Or how can I contact you if that is okay
