Anyone doing this program via the internet?

Okay, you're located in Florida...Are you doing this program? I'm in Dallas, and I want to do this one, but they tell me they're not currently partnered with any Dallas-area hospitals for the clinicals.

No, I am not doing this program, I am an online ASN student that loves to see distance format nursing programs springing up. I just thought I would post the program link once I found it so others could check it out. This is the first I had heard of this program, but I know there is at least one other program with a similar format that started this Fall somewhere out west.

I wish I had a BA or BS...I soooo would have done my nursing this way.

Oh! Just thought maybe you had figured out something that I hadn't! I have a few more prereqs to get out of the way, and so I'm shopping for a program. About the only choice for us Dallasites is TCU which will cost about $40K. I think that's insane. The Tech program tells me that their faculty is pushing for some Dallas clinical sites, so I'm praying that they get it all together in the next year so I can apply to the program. It seems to be my best bet for my situation.

So, your distance learning thing is working out alright for you? I wondered about the mechanics of it--How you take your tests; Are there "online lectures" or do you just read the book; I'm really curious. And I wonder what kind of NCLEX success there is with these programs. I know, I know...SO many questions!

I haven't looked into a lot of nursing programs but doesn't it seem strange that they require you to have a CNA to be considered for admission?

Hi Cheri,

Yes, it is very cool that more and more programs are springing up. I wonder if it will eventually have an impact on the educator/nursing shortage. Well, it's something to think about.

So many students can be reached via the online format that I am actually surprised that there are not more programs up and running.

They also have a BSN completion program for ADN-RN's that does not require Texas residency. You can get your BSN in as little as 6 months.

Just a little info....

I haven't seen the CNA requirement in any other programs. I haven't yet checked into getting this CNA designation, so I have no idea what that entails. Can anyone enlighten me?

The program out west that I mentioned earlier had the same CNA requirement. Quess they want you to already have your basic patient care down before you start. Also will help in being confident patient care is for you. Most programs are about 6 weeks to complete, check out your local vocational schools.

Do you guys know of any other Texas schools with online accelerated programs? I think that TAMU-CC are there any others?

TCU, TWU, and there are a few others. I had heard rumors that the TAMU-CC program was going online. Any truth to that?
