Texas State University Fall 2016

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone!! I know it may be a little early to start this thread for the Fall-16 Admissions into the SON @ TXST. The application Deadline is quickly approaching and I thought I'd start this. I am super nervous because I always hear that getting into nursing school is a difficult process. This will be my first time applying into any nursing school.

My Current Stats :

Overall GPA : 3.67

Science GPA : 3.61

I am taking my TEAS V in Jan a week before the application deadline. I know that is pushing it kind of close.

They contacted me after.

Hi all,

I also applied for fall 2016. My overall and science GPA are higher than what's being requested to apply and I'll be done with all my pre-reqs in May! I'm a little concerned about my TEAS because I failed the English usage portion however my overall composite score was still in the 80s (I did really well in Math & Science) due to the time limit I was not able to retake so I submitted my application with these scores but not sure if I'll be considered due to the fact that I failed a section of the TEAS. Has anyone heard if Texas State will still consider you or make you retake it?

I know exactly what you mean! I'm having to retake a psychology course because the one I took says "childhood through adolescence" and Texas State requires for it to be through adulthood. Luckily I was able to register for an online course through ACC so I'll officially be done with all my pre-reqs by May.

I can't believe that some of the requirements are so strict with core classes. After reviewing every thing a billion times...I realize I still need an English Lit class and Algebra is the only course they will accept (no Stats, not college math, etc). So I have 2 more classes to take in Summer!! Agh!

I can't believe we have 2 more months to wait! I'm going to lose my mind!

Ah thats too bad! They will not accept a failing score no matter what the composite is.

my business calculus was accepted. Do you have any math higher than algebra?

I know I spoke with someone from admissions and was advised to retake and reapply! :( Hoping the other schools I applied to will let it slide but looks like I'll have to wait and keep saving $$.

Don't worry!! em_rose16. I know depending on what school you applied to they use the TEAS scores but there isn't really a minimum like TXST. A lot of schools did have a minimum!! Just check with each school and see.

Hello everyone! I was admitted to Texas State University's Nursing School Fall 2015 but unfortunately was involved in a motor vehicle accident and missed too many of my lecture hours for my Patho class so I am having to retake the course; I'll be joining class of 2018. The application/acceptance process was lengthy and at times frustrating. As soon as you guys find out about your acceptance, I suggest creating a private facebook group and adding each other. Good luck to you all!

Just a word of warning for anyone who doesn't know- You can't take 11 week courses over summer or the 2nd 6 week summer session. I confirmed with admissions and advising that the grades don't get to Texas State until after the Fall semester starts and they will not let you start without everything in. It may be common knowledge that I just missed, but just in case I wanted to let y'all know

When I was filling out the application I was trying to fill in the portion of all my courses taken. I called multiple times and asked and finally figured out that I have to have those courses specifically. Very frustrating. But it will all be worth it in the end....

No math higher than algebra. I don't even have algebra. I have statistics, college math, and a remedial algebra course. They said I have to take College Algebra (or a higher course). I'm not into math and was hoping what I've had thus far would suffice, but nope. I'm going to try to test out of the algebra.
