Texas State University Fall 2014

U.S.A. Texas

Published

This forum is for Fall 2014 applicants at the Round Rock campus. Deadline is fast approaching, January 15, so get your applications in. Feel free to share any questions, concerns, tips with your peers. What made you decide on nursing? What previous health care experience do you have? What is your current science GPA, overall GPA, and TEAS score? What is your previous degree, if any?

I have also applied for 2014!! I'm so nervous and haven't heard a thing!

Here's my TEAS and GPA

Reading 85.7%

Math 93.3%

Science 81.3%

English / language 90.0%

comp 86.7%

Science GPA 3.5

General GPA 3.89

I know another girl that applied and has gotten an email to complete the background check. But she has much higher TEAS and science GPA than I do. So my thought is that the applicants that have really high scores are totally in.

I'll just have to wait and hope that they don't get tons of applicants that whip my butt as far as TEAS and GPA!!

Good luck to everyone!

This is scary!

Hi everyone! Its only been a few weeks but I'm already anxious to hear! Here are my stats.

Overall GPA: 3.2

Science GPA: 3.7

Overall TEAS: 88.7%

TEAS reading: 95%

TEAS math: 90%

TEAS science: 83%

TEAS english: 86%

I am a part time unit clerk in the NICU and a part time caregiver for an elderly family friend but I don't hold any certifications like CNA or anything. I'm really hoping my TEAS score and my essay will give me an edge since my GPA isn't fantastic. I just keep hoping there's only 99 (or less!) other applicants with higher grades than me! haha. It all comes down to who else applies. I put all my eggs in the Texas State basket because I don't want to relocate so I really hope I get in. Otherwise, I don't know what I'd do with myself for another year!

Reading last year's threads on Texas State, it seems like they send out emails for background checks sometime in Februrary so I would definitely activate your Texas State email and check it regularly.

Good luck everyone!

I have put all my eggs in this basket too!! I know just how you feel. Good luck to you!

I saw that they had extended the deadline and that surprised me! I applied last year and got rejected. I took the TEAS a second time and was one question away from the minimum for math but I had done really well on the other subjects. I don't know if I should just try for the hell of it or just not put myself in more pain as I had been last year. But I have applied to many other schools and took a year off retaking classes and stuff to meet other school requirements; what Im trying to say is it worth a shot ? I fit the gpa requirements but that one subject on the teas will really hurt me for sure.

Yall dont put all eggs in a basket I made that mistake have a backup plan :)!

So sorry to hear that! How disappointing! That test was intense; I literally had 23 seconds left on my time when I finished the math section.

You are right! But it's annoying how all the programs have slightly different requirements. I have actually filled in my class schedule with classes that are required for a different program, and will apply to that program if I don't hear from St. David's SON by march.

You only get 2 chances to apply to Texas State SON and i heard they won't even consider your application if you haven't met the minimum on the TEAS. So if you were rejected last year and didn't meet the minimum this year again, then i would hold off on applying because you won't have any more attemps after that.

eba63,

If you don't mind me asking, since you are a re-applicant, what were your last year TEAS scores, science GPA, and overall gpa?

Any chance a 3.4 GPA with Texas states required Teas scores doesn't get in?! I'm freaking out since I haven't heard back and frustrated because I could be retaking a C this semester since they extended the deadline... What to do?? I feel like the receptionist hates me and must recognize my number... She seems to have quite a personality! Lol! I also applied at UT. Anyone else starting to get crazy?!

From what I hear there is little hope of getting in if you only have the minimum required TEAS scores. This link will give you a better idea of who's getting in. Also as you can tell every year gets slightly more competitive!

Im just thinking since they decided to extend the deadline, the qualified applicants who submitted by the oringinal deadline should be accepted if they met the standard requirements.

Everyone-

(1.) Who had received the background check email?

(2.) Who has had a fingerprinting appointment?

(3.) Who has received the blue "cleared" background check card from the BON in the mail?

(4.) Who has mailed of the blue card to the SON?

(5.) Who cannot wait any longer for admission decisions to be sent out the month and are going crazy?!!!!
