This forum is for Fall 2014 applicants at the Round Rock campus. Deadline is fast approaching, January 15, so get your applications in. Feel free to share any questions, concerns, tips with your peers. What made you decide on nursing? What previous health care experience do you have? What is your current science GPA, overall GPA, and TEAS score? What is your previous degree, if any?
Has anyone applied to St. David's SON before and was rejected? If so, what did the rejection letter look like?(envelope type & thickness, number of pages, what part of the letter did they state you were rejected) AND what did the rejection email look like? (what was in the subject line, what part of the email did they state you were rejected). Also, did the letter or email explain why you were not chosen for admissions into the BSN program?
Does anyone know what the conditions for the "conditional admission" are? I assume the basic conditions have to do with completing the prerequisite courses and submitting vaccination requirements (ect...), but I wondered what the requirements are as far as maintaining GPA goes. Do the prerequisite course have to be finished with a minimum grade of C or do you have to maintain your current GPA? Has anyone heard anything about this?
I believe that if conditionally accepted your current GPA's can increase or decrease with the addition of the remaining prerequisite course grades( maximum of 18 credit hours remaining) before fall 2014 admission, as long as you don't go below a 2.90 pre-req GPA and a 3.0 science GPA.
So, as long as you maintain your current GPA's by making at least the minimum required GPA's on your remaining 18 credit hours, you will meet the conditions for admission.
p.s. sorry if my explanation is confusing.

Thanks for the reply! Good to know.
Tas1991,
I am finishing prerequisites this spring. I am currently taking the required Literature class and Spanish 2 because I did not take foreign language in high school. I am also taking a sociology class and statistics (usually required for MSN programs). I may take the summer off or take classes towards a minor in Psychology; I can't decide. What about you? How many prerequisites do you have left?
I am totally going nuts!! This is pure torture!
I have not received one piece of correspondence from the SON. I keep having thoughts like; what if they lost my application, or what if they sent me an email to do the background check and it went to junk!!
I just think its weird how some of us have gotten the email to do the background check and others haven't! Makes me so nervous!

You didn't get a background check email? Did you ever call and make sure they had all your documents and stuff?
No I didn't because I hand delivered my application packet.
I think you should call them and verify they have your correct contact information and also verify that your application was complete, especially since the deadline was extended. Just tell them you haven't received the background check Fast Pass and you want to verify they have everything. Good luck!
