UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!

Mine is letting me get on but it says error on the main page! Does this excite anyone else?! Maybe updating in preparation for changing statuses!!

That's what mine is doing too. I HOPE that it's because they are getting ready to change statuses!! But it's probably just regular maintenance on their system...I don't want to get my hopes up : /

Yes, indeed...@meganelaine-Hope your birthday was wonderful! Hopefully this is a helpful tidbit for some of you. I called the SON about 3 wks ago that I hadn't received my transcript eval yet, and they told me to hold tight, they were still being sent out. I cooled it because I saw an old topic for UTHSC where someone didn't get their eval until 9/29.

October rolls around and no eval to be found in my mailbox. So, I decide to call SON again to see what the deal was. The lady seemed a little surprised, but not too invested/concerned when I tell her I hadn't received it. To appease me with some sort of information(and I'm assuming to get me out of her hair) she advised me to call the registrar's office and they can email me the eval or, perhaps, send another copy. I'm assuming she thought it got lost somewhere along the way.

Anyway, I proceed to call the Registrar's office (they are pretty rude there..perhaps just super busy and understaffed,) and tell the lady what I was instructed from the SON. She said they don't do anything like email or send out transcript evals independently. SON sends the email of who they want evals for and they prepare and send the evals to the SON who then sends them out. That's it. I explained to her that I was concerned because I had taken 3 additional classes since I applied last January for Fall 2013, but I wanted to be sure they see my complete application w/updated transcripts and all to judge my admission. If they were looking at my old stuff...that would have just been a waste to have taken any courses and submitted new transcripts!

Frustrated with my persistence, she finally proceeds to ask my name...etc. She said that I hadn't even been accepted yet. I say, yes, I know, I'm checking to make sure they have a new evaluation to base consideration for acceptance. She then explains that, from her end, she sees the last time they sent a request for my transcript eval was in FEBRUARY 2013....which would mean they haven't requested my new eval which would include all the new and replaced grades. It would be worthwhile to note that she stated, "they have only sent transcript evaluation requests for people that are accepted at this point." Basically, if they didn't request mine, they saw my HESI (97.6% average, 830 CT) and didn't want to see further at this time...or at least, that's what I think. She told me they looked at HESI scores first then would ask for an eval if the applicant is a good candidate, I suppose.

On a side note, she did say that all my transcripts would have been uploaded and visible from their portal, so they seem to at least have access to that for judging admission.

So, kudos if you've received 2 evals. I would say that's a good sign. Here's to hoping I'm one of the ones who didn't get an eval but got accepted....But I'm definitely not holding my breath. :/ Good luck, everyone! I'm very optimistic for you guys!

Hmmm, that's really interesting....I applied back at the beginning of May, and received two transcript evals at the end of May (in the same envelope) but had not taken the HESI at that point. Since then I have not received any additional transcript evals.

I e-mailed them about a month ago to make sure the classes I had taken since the first transcript eval we're now included, and if a new evaluation would be sent out. She said that they would still be sending out evals in a couple of weeks. I have still not received another transcript eval.

Your HESI scores are really good...if you've turned everything in on time and meet all the requirements, I wouldn't lose hope just yet! Like you said, past applicants have been accepted despite not receiving any transcript evaluations at all!

I was checking the forum to see if anyobe received anything but I guess there is more waiting to do.

Question: are you supposed to receive 2 evals?

I received one a few weeks after I sent in my application, transcripts, & hesi scores. (It was all at one time).

Okay this might be a stupid question but... I received a letter that I think was my course eval, it has all the courses I've taken and my gpa based on them, science, nursing, & prereqs. Is that what a course eval is? Its on white paper & has a stamp that says imaged.

I don't remember if it came with a letter or anything. Oyy talk about memory lapse.

This is what stress does to me. I'm second guessing everything!
