I Graduated from the ADN program in May. It is a awesome program, and they really care about there students. The program now has spring and fall acceptance, which is nurse. Good luck on your path to becoming a nurse.

P.S. there acceptance is based on a point system rather than GPA, the only time it is based on GPA is when they have several people tied with the same points then they look at the GPA.

Point system

Science Courses: A=3; B=2; C=1

All other pre reqs = 1 point

Grayson County resident = 2 points (because so many people from the metroplex apply)

Hesi entrance test: A=3; B=2; C=1

I think the highest score you can get is 28, also if all of your science courses and college algebra are completed; than you can be accepting id you have enough points and finish your other pre- reqs as you complete the nursing program.

They do have a lot of applicants, but my motto is perseverance goes a long way.

Hope this help

One more thing as a GCC grad, I had no problem finding a job, my only problem was deciding which job offer I was going to take.

Hi... GCC 07 here, OMG! I can't believe it's been over a year since I graduated!!! I really AM the nurse! Ok.. on to your question...

As far as study partners goes... wait a few weeks into class... you'll see who you want to partner up with for a study buddy and who you don't.

Advice: Don't take lecture and lab from two different people, especially if Butler is teaching the lab.

Good luck! We need you.

on to another post.... Hey new grad! Congratulations on your accomplishment! I'm glad you made it!

To the OP i agree with Bella, choose your study partners carefully always have the same professor for lab and lecture makes it alot easier

i know this is an old post, but wyotech, how did you end up doing in popplewell's class? to me she was an awful teacher..... had her for just gen. bio and she was just awful

Hey Ya'll,

I was thinking of attending grayson county for the RN program....is college algebra required for acceptance into the program or can that be obtained later? I've currently been geared towards Brookhaven's RN program, which requires Chemistry rather than College Algebra. Any information about required pre-req's, etc., would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!:typing

Chem. is not required for the Grayson Nursing program. College Algebra also is not required as long as you had 2years of math in high school. So check your transcript you may get lucky and get in without chemistry or college algebra..Good luck

I have heard from several people that Grayson Nursing makes you purchase you full 2 years worth of books up front. I was wondering if that is accurate. If so there is no way of knowing if you will make it through the whole two years ( scary to even think about that but its reality) secondly what if the books change? Also can you tell me a rough estimate of the point cut off? I will get my letter in June for the Rn program and I am so scared!!

Hello

I graduated from Grayson in May of 08. Yes you do purchase the books for the full 2 years up front. They will use those books for the entire 2 years they will not change the books. The cutoff points change year to year. As far as knowing if you will make it through the 2 years, well think positive from here on out. Also if you don't make through the 2 years, you do get another chance to reenter the program and you do not have to purchase the books again.

Hopes this helps and good luck in June

thank you!! I'm thinking positive and knowing I have already paid for my books is all the more incentive to pick them up and study lol who wants to waste money on books, they are far from cheap!! I can't wait for June. Not knowing if your in is terrible.
