Are there any nurses in Texas that are LTC surveyors? I was just curious about the training. I know it will be flying distance from me and was curious if it was a m-f 8-5 type of thing. Thanks!

I would imagine the training is similar in all states, because the survey process itself is based on Federal rules and regulations.
I was a surveyor for about five minutes back in 2014, and I can tell you that the training is very intense. There is so much to the computer program (QIS or Quality Indicator Survey), and a great deal of memorization as far as the F-tags go. There are many rules regarding the writing and issuing of citations that you have to learn as well. In addition, everyone has to attend a special training in Baltimore, called informally Federal boot camp. (I never made it that far.)
The actual training period is six to nine months long, during which you'll be constantly monitored by your trainers. During this period you'll probably do a survey as Team Coordinator (TC) to prove competency. It's said that it takes ~2 years to feel comfortable in the role, so don't be too hard on yourself in the early going. Good luck!
