Texas A&M Spring 2017 Applicants

Published

Just thought I'd create a board where applicants for TAMU could discuss the application process and start to see when acceptances and rejections start rolling out.

Some information to include when introducing yourself or posting about your application could include:

  • Semester and program applying for
  • Internal or external (transfer) applicant
  • Previous degrees
  • Other schools applying to
  • GPAs (Overall, science, prereq)
  • HESI Scores
  • Application status/communications from TAMU

I got the email too. I had already done the BON background check for a different school. It cost me about $40 to get the finger printing done and it took maybe a week or 2 to get my "blue card" (clearance) in the mail from the BON. I am actually not going to move forward with A&M anymore because I got into my #1 school choice last week, but thought I would offer that bit of info if anyone had questions :)

@ATXnursehopeful Could you explain the BON background check? I applied to HCC ADN as a backup, and got admitted really early on in September, however they just sent me the email about the background check. Could I go ahead and start it? I was hesitant because they are not my first choice I am waiting towards the end of October to hear back from 2 other schools, but I am not sure if I should go ahead with the BON background check will that prevent me from accepting if I get into another school? I do not really understand how the background check works? Thanks in advance!

Anag14, you can go ahead and perform the background check. It is not related to admission at any one particular nursing school. The one done through IdentoGO is just for the Texas BON and won't affect the status of your applications. After you complete it, you'll be mailed a blue postcard and you'll give that to whichever school you actually end up attending as proof that you completed a background check for the BON.

Sure! Just like @springapplicant said, it is done through a third party company that runs your fingerprints. You pay the company for the process and then the BON will mail you the blue clearance card. You can use that clearance for any program so keep it handy so you have proof you are cleared. I am assuming all schools use IdentiGo but I have no idea, that is who did mine as well.

Hello to all! I am currently in the excruciating waiting process also! Does anyone have any idea of when we will know something?! I, like others, got the back ground check email. I've submitted applications to schools literally ten days ago and already have interviews set up. I know A&M probably had a bunch of applicants for the second degree program, but I would really like to know something more, as A&M is my first choice school!!!

my guess is by the 20th but I base that on nothing and have no idea. They need to hurry up!

I was told admission decisions would not be made until "very late October or early November." I agree, the wait is excruciating!

I'm currently in the 2nd degree program in Round Rock, set to graduate this May, if anyone has any questions about it. I know there's a lot of things I wish I'd known!

This waiting is really starting to bother me. I am applying for the Traditional program and was initially told they would have the decision made by October 1. I called them yesterday and now the deadline is November 1?? Why is it taking them so long? I wish they could give us some kind of communication as to the people they are for sure not accepting yet; or at the very least tell us how far they are through the application process. This has all been very vague and I am getting tired of the waiting.

Just got my acceptance email!!!! Check your emails everyone!

Congratulations! Did anyone else get an acceptance email? Has anyone gotten a rejection one?

Got a rejection one, but I never finished my application to A&M itself because I got into my #1 school a few weeks back! It said my application was "incomplete". Congrats to everyone! Good luck!
