Testing- hair/nails/peth

Published

Just out of curiosity, how many specialty tests have you had vs how long you’ve been in the programs? Also- has anyone successfully presented a closer testing site? The closest one to me is 30 min away and someone in my AA meeting said that you can send in a letter requesting a closer site? Thanks!

I’m in over 5 years now. By the time mine is done messing around, a sentence is closer to 5 1/2. Beyond useless overpriced, money sucking “evaluation” BS, I had nothing but P tests up until 7 months ago when they inexplicably decided to throw in the occasional blood. No reason...just did. I’ve gotten that a few times, in addition to the regular number of P tests. Guess someone wasn’t hitting thier profit goals or something. ?

I’ve had to give two hair and three blood tests in less than a year. No dilutes and no abnormal or positive results on my behalf either.

I've had multiple specialty tests, blood and nail and a specialty urine that I can only go one place to get. I've been in two years out of five. No hair yet, but I've heard they pull hair closer to completion. And I'm not in for alcohol or narcotics. I also have a drive...35 minutes is my closest site. They say I can petition for a closer site, but the place I would have to petition for is over 20 minutes away, so I'm just dealing with it at the moment. Luckily, my job has a testing site on campus, which is where needing a close site really matters to me.

What is the specialty urine test? I haven’t heard of this yet.

It's unique to me. I was reported for abusing a weird med...think lasix for a bulimic. I don't want to name it because case managers parole this site and it would instantly identify me. I suspect the urine is for that med, but I don't know for sure. I believe the blood and the nail are more standardized.

Last question- do you use affinity? Do you know how to petition for a closer site?

I don't use Affinity. My program just requires me to put in a request and then they see if it can happen. I've never tried though.

If you use Affinity, you can go in yourself a select a preferred testing site from the ones they give you around where you are at (for me, they are mostly LabCorp) I went to the same one few like 2 years until recently when they couldn’t staff the place with a tech that was allowed to sign the my paperwork. I had to sit there for 2 hours until they got someone. I just changed to another lab site. You shouldn’t have to petition for anything.

you can go anywhere you want as long as you have your COC form. The sample just gets shipped to LabCorp anyway I think.

4 years I've spent probably close to 8K or more on random testing for my monitoring.2-3 times a month I could get resentful, but I'm grateful! For one thing be sure I would have spent 3x that on drugs and alcohol before and secondly how much is my life worth? because it for sure saved my life. Sometimes back at the beginning of all this, the testing was the only thing that kept me sober.
