Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hey guys!!!

I take my test in 10 days and I am nervous (like everyone else). I have been studying every single day for 1 1/2 months for about 4-8 hrs depending on the day. Literally would wake up eat, study, eat, study, eat, study sleep. I know I sound crazy But I am not the best test taker so I have to go the extra mile and study more :) Thankfully my school provided Kaplan for us this year. My studying has been mainly focused on Kaplan. My scores so far have been this:

-question trainers: 66,60,46,57,61,56

-qbank: 62

-sample tests: 60,62,90,40

- readiness (we took this in school rushed and i didnt know anything): 64%

I still have 200 qbanks to do and Im doing qt7 tomorrow. I know my ques trainers have been fluctuating but ive been doing better on the qbanks. I started out getting 45-60% a month ago and now have been getting 65-80% on them. I am worried that my qt are too low and that I'm not being consistent. I also have a couple friends i work with who graduated last year and still cant pass and They scare me and tell me that i would be lucky to pass because its horrible. I have friends in different states that i graduated with who have passed with flying colors without putting much effort into it.

I also came across Uworld and have been starting a couple ques. Is kaplan or Uworld more identical to the testing format on the nclex? I also read the ati cumulative content book, did a couple questions from the Kaplan book, some ques from the lippincott alternative book, and a couple chapters in the Q&A Davis Success Comprehensive book.

So to summarize this all.. Am i doing okay?! What did you guys use to study that was helpful? Sometimes I feel like Im playing Russian Roulette with these Kaplan ques since theyre so hard! Worried that I'll guess wrong. I am definitely more confident in myself now than I was a month ago, but I still feel like I dont know a lot.

Thanks guys :)

All you people have to do is PASS this exam! Don't try to know everything because you won't. I passed NCLEX with 75 questions and I never scored more than 70% on any practice exam.

Its true what Paco said. Know a little something but too much to know... Try, study and take it. I passed at 75 too!😁

You're so right! today im taking the day off but now my mind is going blank that i dont even know the basics when i quiz myself (my test anxiety is coming through). I just have to go in with confidence and see where this takes me!

Dee, relax. You know what you know. I'd. Recommend praying, meditation?? Anxiety will not help you! Good luck!

I have prayed and I've done deep breathing exercises; i feel better now than i did yesterday; i wish i had medication!

Thank you!!! I need all the prayers I can get!

Someone here somewhere mentioned that they had a beer with lunch before their exam (and IIRC she passed lol). Not recommending that, but that goes to show you that it is not the exam monster it seems to be. If you prepared well enough, and by that I mean you did plenty of practice questions, you are good to go for this exam! Soooooo following this thread, you better update us tomorrow, woman!! :p Best wishes! :)

I retake my NCLEX for the 3rd time on the 28th. The last time I took it this year I went to question 205 and failed. I did a review class the week before. This time around I am not doing a review class. I did Kaplan exam prep questions and decided to buy 1 month access Kaplan Qbank. Scoring so far 50% 51% 56% 58% nothing over 60%. Every test I do, I write the rationales that I wasn't clear of down on index cards. Today I'm looking more into pharm and studying drug categories and side effects and precautions. I found the NCLEX PN info sheet on here. I'm printing it today. Any other suggestions? I've really been studying more than when I took the test last time. I really want to pass this time around.

I just took my test at 8am and finished in 75. I DIDNT KNOW A THING. I only had 10 select alls and I ended on a select. did the pvt and the good pop up came up . Im praying

You DID know. Given your studying habits, can you honestly believe you failed this thing utterly miserably? I don't, having read through this thread :)

Now, about that PVT: please stop yourself from doing it again! You did it WAY too early for it to mean anything (it takes upwards of 24 hours for QA review of your exam to be complete). You got a good pop up, though, which means to me that you most likely DID pass. 75 questions is not an "on the fence" number, know what I mean? It's either concrete pass or fail.

However, if you keep doing the PVT ALL YOU WILL DO is increase the likelihood you WILL convince Pearson Vue to take your money....or attempt to charge an invalid card. Will you then feel better? NO, you will not. Let it go, go do something FUN....and if QR are available in your State in 48 hours, pay the eight bucks and find out once and for all.

Good luck!
