I just received two job offers. One is for telemetry in a hospital and the other is in a sub-acute rehab place. I am a new grad who is also enrolled in an RN-BSN-MSN (nurse practitioner program). WHich of the two will be better in the future? Sure the money in the sub acute is significantly more but it's not in a hospital. Will that hurt me?
Sub Acute is 8 hr shifts with every other weekend while telemetry is 12 hrs 7 AM to 7 PM and no weekends.
Thanks everyone.

IMO, I would go for the tele. You will pick up a lot of acute care exerpeince and be a whiz at cardiac eventually.

I'm a nursing student, and I just spent a few days (as a patient) in a telemetry unit. Go for telemetry! It's really much more interesting than I thought.
(I had a case of severe hyponatremia, but they fixed me up so I'm good as new.)

TELE for sure!!!!!! No weekends!! Hello!
But seriously, it all depends on the ultimate goal you have for your NP.
IMO, hospital work will give your better opportunities in the long run!
And congrats on navigating this scary new grad market and coming out with not one, but TWO job offers!

I just graduated in May and I now work on a telemetry unit. I really like it! I've been exposed to a lot of things and am gaining great experiences! I also think it helps that I have really great preceptors! Good luck in whatever you choose!

Telemetry.
Did I mention the pay difference between sub acute and tele is $13/hr?
You need to find out why it's that much of a difference before your pupils turn into permanent dollar signs.
It's the location . One is 30 min south going to NYC (where the pay they are offering is avg) and the other is 30 min North going into Albany (the offer is avg for the region).
Ok, that's legit. :)
