Technicare Alert--now what??

Now that the FDA has released that Technicare is pulled what are other facilities doing with patients who need a prep on the mucous membranes and has a betadine allergy???

Please advise!

We just started using castille soap- no germacidal properties, but it's the only replacement we were able to find. Hopefully Techni-Care will be back soon. Apparently there's nothing wrong with the actual product, it's a process that doesn't conform to FDA standards or something, so maybe it'll get resolved in the near future.

We pulled TC out of all our OR rooms yesterday. We've been instructed to use a 50/50 mix of 4.0% chlorahexidine and sterile water for burns and mucous membranes. For everything else that we used TC on we switched to ChloraPrep applicators (which is chlorahexidine and alcohol).
