Hi! I'm going to be signing up for the TEAS V exam very soon. I just have a few general questions - what is the mathematics portion like? It says no calculators allowed, and the word 'math' gives me anxiety itself. Any general things about it for the test? Also, what percentage is passing and when do you find out your results? There is 1 test given in Oct, Nov and Dec - Will I be able to retake if I fail within this time or are relaying results too far spread out? Thanks! :)
Just read that you may only take it once. Is there anything I can do to review, mainly just for math?? Reading and english Im very good in so I dont have any worrys about that. Just math..

The test is very easy I felt but only if your fresh off of taking your pre-reqs particularly A&P. However the math portion is basic math. You can also get a review book to better assure yourself of acing the exam

I took the TEAs a month ago. Calculators aren't allowed, but it is pretty basic math (I hate math). The nursing school you are applying to will tell you the lowest score you are allowed to get (at mine it was 70%). I took it on a computer so I found out right away but if you do it pencil and paper style I think you have to wait a week. Most schools allow you to take it twice, so is it your school that only says you can take it once? I used to the ATI study book and it was VERY helpful. I really recommend studying a lot for the science as well. Like the person above me said, take some of your pre reqs first. Also, I recommend taking it during a summer or winter break when you are not studying for other classes because that can be over whelming.
Well I don't have the time to take prereqs at the moment. Classes are already started this semesterand I'm taking a math & psych course, while working full time, and the TEAS is only offered once in Oct, Nov n December. Yeah, I figured you'd be able to take it twice but the site says once per year..huge bummer. I'm going to get the Exam guide from the TEAS website I guess, if it will help with science? Is it mainly anatomy questions you'd say? And basic math, thank you, that's a complete relief! THANKS! :)

I took the TEAS once in March of this year and again last week....so I dont think once a year is correct.

I am taking mine for a second time as well this year. It really depends on your school.

DO get the ATI TEAS V Study Guide. A thorough review of this will outline the math & science--& will show you English & Reading questions you may not have thought of.
The 'math' is largely (not entirely) arithmetic--can you accurately add & subtract with paper (supplied) & pencil? (See the Study Guide.)
Passing percentage is defined by the school you apply to. Successful applicants at many schools score 20% or more, higher than the minimum passing score. E.g., 67% passing where I applied, but those admitted score in the 80's & 90's, so I've been told. As others have said, how many times you can take it, and in what time frame, are also school-defined.
Dunno where you are--& don't need to; but as to how often the test is given (& where), pull up ATI's website, go to the store link (upper right, I think)--you don't even need an ATI account for this, select various states, & within any state, various cities. And you will find that: TEAS V is not offered in all states; it may be offered in only 1 or 2 places in a state; (probably won't show this now, but) summer offerings are much fewer than during the school 'year'; and many schools offer the test ONLY to their own applicants. I took the test in June & in August, and the nearest place available to take it was 500 miles away.
Hope this helps.

To be very honest, do not take the exam if you have not taken your pre-reqs unless you are really really good in science overall. The science section is the hardest. Math in my opinion is the easiest section, and I suck at math! Math is my weakest subject and science is my strongest; but on the TEAS i did good in math but failed science miserably and I studied a lot! I am taking the test again on Monday and hoping for the best.

Ok I have taken this test a few times The school that I go to does not have a waiting list for the nursing program so you just have to reapply each semester. As for the TEAS V, you can retake it as many times as you want to...just another way for them to get extra money out of you. It started out at $30 and now its up to $40.
Now my problem with this test is that it is telling me that I am a dummy!!! I have score 64%! I am no way near a stupid person!!! I pass all my classes with "A's or B's"...with the exception of my science classes as I have gotten "C's" only because I didn't really open the books as I did with my other classes, not to mention I just wasn't interested in the science classes. I have used the study guides and taken the practice test and on most of the individual tests in just reading for instance, I missed one to two questions, if I missed any at all. So I am not seeing how the actual test is totally different. Has anyone else had this problem? I have talked to a few people that have showed up to take the test, and several of them have taken the test at least three times and not passing. All of my prereqs are completed and I am really sick of this whole process to the point that I am thinking of not going into the RN program. Is there anyone else having this problem...or know any pointers to taking this test?
I agree with sacnurse. The science is hardest and there's a heavy dose of it. Why waste money trying to rush it? Take a couple pre reqs and try to schedule it for next (or summer... I still don't see why you can only take it once a year during a 3 month time span... What site are you looking at?)
40!!!!! It was $70 a pop for me!!! I wish it was $40 instead......
