TEAS Test

Has anyone taken the TEAS test at a community college here in North Carolina? Can you give me an idea of the questions asked on the exam? I need specifics, not just general statements. I have done the study guide, and the online testprepreview.com, but everyone that I have asked states that these questions are not asked on the test, they are just basics-not advanced questions and are of no help at all.

Can anyone give me an idea of exactly what to study? If you have taken the test, please give me an idea of some of the questions that you had to answer. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

I took the TEAS last Saturday here in Baltimore, but since the test is from ATI I don't think it would vary from state to state.

Honestly, I thought the questions on the actual test were much EASIER than many of the questions at testpreview.com. The type and format of the questions is pretty much the same as what's on testpreview.com, except the actual test is easier.

For some more details, I'll refer you to my response in another thread:

I took it in VA, it was the same as the prep book. Just remember they don't let you use a calculator if you are taking the actual test, as opposed to some schools that just use some sections and do let you use a calculator, my results were very diffrent for each. Good luck!

There's one question where you find which picture in the answer match the directions, and they had some questions using maps and basically you have to know east, south, west, north etc.

The best help comes from ATI directly. They make the test, and really their resources are only ones that are closely matched to the real thing. The study guide by far is the biggee, the real test is almost exactly like the study guide. Their were a few things in science that I'd never heard of, and was able to learn them from the practice questions and sure enough they were on my real test. Also, there's a lot of study practice questions for the grammar/etc. section with like 500 words that are commonly spelled incorrectly. Also, try their online practice test (from atitesting.com). You can do the online test twice. I found that because these so closely mirrored the real thing that they were a HUGE help when it came time for the real deal. Hope this helps.

I took it this last monday. My advice prepare yourself on math, there isn't a lot of time. The Math is dead on. A lot of percents..averages.. that shoul be somewhat easy. Just keep an eye on the time, towards the end I had to guess on a few. Science you really need to know the scientific method, the earths plates.... clouds... know the conversions from celsius to F and visa versa. Grammar know when to use colons and semi colons, because most likely it will be a comma. There is about 5 spelling questions...and know what a simple subject is. There are 170 questions. I had 2 weeks to study.. I thought during the test I failed, but I PASSED. I didn't think the test was easy. But then again a lot was riding on it.. If I didn't pass I would have to wait another semester to apply.

It is difficult to say the exact ?s because there are at least 4 or 5 versions of the test.

I failed the math portion on my first try with a 57(60 is passing), and scored a 89 on the second try. I did not study for the second try.

I went through a section and answered all questions that I knew or knew I could easily work out, and then went back and did the questions that remained. That method gave me the opportunity to answer more questions, and not have to rush to finish.

I found that I answered more questions quicker, and the completed questions helped refresh my memory on how to do the ones I had passed up.

At my cc, many people do every test this way, so they can move through the test, and take the time on the challenges. They know that the majority of questions are done, and can relax and think their way through the tough parts.

good luck:nurse:

Can someone please help me!! I only have two times to pass the TEAS which is a test that is going to replace the NET for the school I am applying to. I am a really bad speller..HELP!!! i took the pratice test from ati.com and got 66.7 on the english and a 70 something on math..is that passing? my college will not tell me the minimum requiremts but just that you pass if you score higher than the national average for those subjects likt math, english or grammer, and reading. Help? How do i prepare for it?? I am really bad in english! I am freaking out that i will not pass it-i only have tow times!

buy the online tests and study guide, you could probably find the study guide on ebay or amazon for less. They will help you get a feel for what is on the test and also help you learn a bit. The study guide gives you a section of information about a given topic, then there's a testing part, and then they have the correct answers with an explanation why they are correct. Good luck! It wasn't as difficult as I expected it to be, but it's different for everyone.

It sounds like you are at a school that must pass the national average, which is 67%. This means you can do poorly in one area and excel in another and still pass. Dont worry about the spelling, there are only about 5 or so questions on it. 3 or less questions on Anatomy so don't waste your time.

Just so you're aware, discussing the content of the exam is a violation of the agreement each student signs when they take the exam. Your best bet is to use the ATI study guide. It has sample questions.

Edited to add: I actually thought the test itself was easier than the online practice test.

OMG!! are you sure the national average is 67 percent how do you know??? I took the online ATI test for 30 dollars and it said i got a 72 percent overall.
