Two of the nursing schools that I want to apply to require the TEAS test. When do I take the test, before or after I apply the schools? If I understand correctly I can take the TEAS through one of the schools I am applying to. The school I am taking my pre-req's at does not require the TEAS & so my advisor knows nothing about it.

At my school, you take it after you've been accepted into the program. But other schools might be different, so I'd suggest you contact the schools you are applying to and ask them. Talk to a counselor in the nursing department; they can probably advise you better than I could.

It depends on the school. One school I applied to required it before, others require it after. Definitely contact the schools you are interested in for more information.

I'm applying to Colorado Mtn College and they require the TEAS as part of the application process. I'm taking it on Tuesday. They said the score will not affect admissions, but does anyone have any idea of what this test is about??

I had to take it as part of the application process for one of the schools I applied to. Once I had my high school and college transcripts in the application file, they scheduled me to take the TEAS at the school on a specific date.
It has writing, reading, math, and science sections. All stuff you needed to know to graduate high school, but if it has been a few years, you'll want to brush up!
http://www.testprepreview.com has some practice nursing tests, this can give you an idea of which subject areas are rusty and need some work.
Good luck! I didn't think it was hard - I studied for three days and got a great score.
