TEAS 6

Published

Hey guys! I just recently learned about a new version of TEAS starting in the fall 2016. Has anyone heard of this or has any information? I've tried to research online, but I didn't see anything. Thanks!

Hello.....I took the test for the second time and got a 68%. Now, this is my question does anyone know if the mometrix teas 6 study guide is good? A lot of people have told me to get it that, that is so far the best study guide out there. I need to pass this test to get into the nursing program by fall 2017. Can anyone give me a feed back on where else I can gather information to study? My weakness is the science part, that was where I scored the lowest. I need help!!!

I used the Mometrix guide and was pleased with it. I also used pocket prep and teas mastery.

Have you completed your pre-reqs? How long ago?

Hey did you ever take the ati practice tests online for teas 5 or 6? if so what did you score on them? was the practice scores close similar or higher/lower then the actual teas scores? im taking the teas 6 on thursday and my practice scores are good but i worry about the actual test. please let me know. thanks

Hey everyone

So, I took the TEAS 6 exam this morning for the first time and I didn't do as well as I anticipated. Here are my scores:

Reading: 83.0%

Math: 59.4%

Science: 66.0%

English: 75.0%

Overal score: 69.3%

Any advice on resources I can use for my Math? I have the ATI Teas 6 book (gray cover) and I've been using pocket prep. I thought I was prepared but when it came time to the Math section my brain was already exhausted after completing the Reading, everything I thought I knew went out the window. Math is also my worst subject so I personally found it challenging and I wasn't able to complete all the questions in time. What strategies did you all use when studying for the exam?

Unfortunately, I didn't get time to study for my exam at all. I have been so busy with a three month old daughter and an injured husband, I decided to take the Practice Exam A from the ATI website and got a 73%. I took my TEAS yesterday and scored a 78 (not amazing, but my school only requires a 60%) If I were you, I would youtube some of the topics in Science that you have trouble with, Mitosis, Punnett squares, etc. Youtube is a great source of information!! Good Luck!

Kahn Academy has really great science videos, especially for A&P. It feels less like studying and more like entertainment. I was able to retain quite a bit from watching them. They begin with an overview and then have videos that break each body part/system down. They can be easily viewed on Youtube.

Hi there. How did your test go?

Hi everyone,

I took the ATI TEAS 6 today and scored a 94.7% (99th percentile rank).

Reading 91.5%

Math 100.0%

Science 91.5%

English and Language 95.8%

This was my second attempt (first score was an 86.7%). So I'm pretty happy with my score. I'd like to share some tips with you all since every little bit helps (and before I forget all about them).

Here are some tips on acing the TEAS:

1. Take the exam AFTER taking your pre-reqs (Chemistry, A&P 1 and 2, English 1 and 2, Algebra, Statistics, etc). Do well in these classes because these are the foundation for all of your future classes. Didn't do so well on some parts of these courses? Well you'll have to learn them eventually. I'm taking a Pathophysiology class right now, and I wish I had studied A&P better (not just to ace the exams).

2. Buy a review book. Select one with the best reviews and multiple practice exams.

3. Start by taking the practice test. Don't time yourself on this one. Instead, keep a rolling log of subjects that you weren't quite sure about whether you get the answer correct or not (i.e. digestive enzymes, types of bones, sentence structures, volume of a cylinder, finding the theme of an article, etc).

4 .Use the list you made and study these subjects. I googled visual charts, Quizlet archives, Youtube lectures, etc. The more variety of learning will help you understand these concepts better. Purely "memorizing" won't take you far because the questions are so random that you'll have to understand concepts and make the best educational guesstimates.

5. Check answers to questions missed. Make sure to thoroughly understand WHY you got certain practice questions wrong. This is VERY important. If you truly don't understand a certain problem, ask someone who knows the subject. I noticed that I was missing problems not because I didn't know the material. I was missing problems because I didn't read the questions correctly.

6. Repeat steps 3, 4 and 5 with as many practice exams you can get a hold of. The more you practice, the better your score. I think everyone has a good 15-20% margin of improving his or her score by studying the appropriate material correctly.

Eventually, you'll see your practice exam scores improving. Trust me, it's possible. :) Let me know if you have any questions!

congrats!

how was the test 2 compare to 1, did they ask same material, I didn't do as well I want on the fist test and now I'm very nervous and don't know what to focus the most.

thanks

I thought the math, reading and english usage sections were pretty much the same. the science had more "A&P" than other science subjects. but the other science subjects like state of matter, ions, etc were still there. Best place to start will be to analyze your score sheet and highlight the questions/subjects you didn't do so well. Then study those materials first. Practice makes perfect. Keep doing those practice questions (esp for math, readind, and english usage). Watch youtube videos on science subjects you need to brush up on. You can do it! Good luck!!

I have been haunted by this test for months...I am so nervous that I am having a hard time studying the ATI book.

I didn't schedule my test but will do it very soon; I do remember a lot of A&P (i took it 5 years ago!!) and some basic algebra. English is my second language so I am going to play it by ear.

Please tell me I have no reason to be so scared!

I'm unsure if this has been specified in one of the earlier comments, but what helped me get a 90 on the math portion was to remember that fractions are just division problems set up to get a decimal. Seriously. There were some questions about the order of 5 numbers from least to greatest, more than I would have expected, and remembering to convert them helped greatly. This is coming from someone who failed algebra more than once in college.
