Hey guys! I just recently learned about a new version of TEAS starting in the fall 2016. Has anyone heard of this or has any information? I've tried to research online, but I didn't see anything. Thanks!
Hi, I am taking my Teas test on Monday.I just saw that English is your second language. Mine is too. I am really nervous about the English part. Have you taken your test yet?
Yes I did... and ran out of time in math and reading.
I scored proficient but terribly, so I will retake it.
Sciences was harder than I thought, but thankfully, I have a good A&P background and could answer some questions that aren't at the "mometrix" manual; I am buying the ATI manual because I don't think the mometrix prepared me as I needed.
I would recommend you to practice LOT'S of word problems in math - including percentage and proportions - I missed some questions simply because it required more time (for me to read and completely understand the problem).
For reading, just try your best. The passages are not too long, but I underestimated and ended up without time. English was easy for me mostly because I do have a rich vocabulary from my native language...
I graduated with a Bachelors of Sciences/Allied health this past December and ohhhhh wow, as much people try to understand how challenging it is to get an education in a second language (on my case third), they will never really know how we feel.
Good luck on your test...keep me posted!
You'll be fine!! English is my first language, so I can't understand the struggle there, but I'm sure if you study, you'll be good to go! I recommend the online practice tests. If you purchase the study package, it allows you to take a pre-test of each section, which give you an idea on what you need to focus on specifically for each section. Then you can study the personalized study guide it calculates or you can study the full study guide. There are small quizzes after each section, then when you're finished with each category, you take a post-test. You can take the post-test twice Each time after you study the sections! And there are also full practice tests available, two I believe. They're tons of help and if you get the answer wrong, it explains why it's wrong! Hope this helps!
I took the TEAS 6 on April 4, and my overall score was an 83.3%, 92 percentile rank nationally. (it didn't give me the program ranks for some reason) And the worst I did on a specific section was science, which was a 76 I think. The rest were high 80s and 90s.
The study guide from the main ATI TEAS testing website is your best friend! believe me!! The highest I made on the practice was an 80, and I did even better on the real thing!! Now I just have to wait to hear about whether I got in! I think I have a good shot, my GPA is a 4.0 and I've made all A's in my A&P and Med Term classes. I'll post what happens here when I found out!
Hi everyone,
Ok, I really need your help because I have taken the teas test three times and I have not been able to pass it. I took teas 5 two times and got. The first time I got 74%; the second time I got 75.3%. But on May 31st when I took teas 6 I did horribly and got only 68%. My lowest score is reading and I need a 69% in it to get into the program. I do well and science and enjoy it a lot. I studied with a friend and tow times a week someone helps as with reading. I am not sure how to study for the next test. Any suggestion will be welcome. English is my second language and I am 44 years old.
Thank you so very much everyone,
The Teas Study Manual 6 was a waste of money. 85% of the test had nothing to do with the study manual; epecially with regards to the math portion. They have the nerve to actually type in in each section of the manual "For this TEAS task you should be able to..." Save yourself time and money and go to the library and check out an algebra book or YouTube it.To be fair my strong points are reading and language. I did not study for neither but I received 85 and 83 percent respectively. I focused on the math section because its weakest subject. Granted that I graduated high school over 20 years ago but gesh! I scored 12.9+ across the board on the TABE test just two weeks ago. Go figure...Reading and language focused on vocabulary, main ideas, styles of writing capitalization, spelling etc. The typical things you that you learned to write essays and book reports. My school of choice does not require the science section for their lpn program but we must score at least 75% on all three sections. Btw the TEAS Test will be $65 starting July 1, 2017. Good luck to all!
Do y'all recommend learning/ memorizing all conversion charts in the study guide? It list U.S. and metric distance, metric conversion like milligram to gram and km to mile (easy). But it also list U.S. to metric capicity and weight conversions. Like how many liters in a pint and how many grams in a pound. Should I be safe and know them all or just the ones listed under nursing measurments like milliliters to ounces/tsp/tbsp

Do you guys think it would be possible to do well on the science section if you haven't taken A&P yet?
