TEAS exam Need tips to pass it

Published

I am in process of enrolling into Nursing program and I need to take the TEAS exam. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone who took it and passed it could share some good tips for studying it.

Thanks!

Hey there! So I got a 95.3% on my TEAS the first (and only) time I took the test, which was just about a month ago. The most important advice I can give you is to buy the ATI prep package that comes with both the study practice manual and the two online tests. Study at least one module in the practice manual EVERY DAY.... go from cover-to-cover in 2-3 weeks, and then thoroughly review the modules that you struggled with. Spend more time on the science section than any other section. My second piece of advice is to not rely just on the ATI study guide for study material.... and they tell you this in the book. The study guide is pretty comprehensive but you will need to pull a lot of information from your old textbooks. Finally, give yourself plenty of time to study before you take the exam. I started studying every day almost two months before I took the exam. Do not procrastinate on this.

The score you get on the TEAS exam is NOT a reflection on how smart or intelligent you are. It's a reflection on how much grit you're willing to put in to preparing for it. I think that's what nursing faculty is really looking at during the admission process, because nursing school is nothing if not an all-consuming commitment. And you can absolutely get the score your heart is set on if you work for it. You got this.

Wishing you all the best of luck, friend.

Hey there Martak! I actually made a youtube video on this very subject! Along with the video, I also mentioned what books I used to get an advanced score on the teas! Hope this helps. If you click this, you will be directed to my post about the TEAS.

I bought a TEAS book I found on Amazon and studied it for two weeks prior to testing. I did well.

Same as drewseph - I purchased the online package from ATI. There are 2 practice tests that you can do 2x each. There are prep modules for each subject that cover EVERYTHING on the test. I studied these a little bit everyday. I went through every page of the manual they sent me. I did every practice test/quiz that was available. I took notes on the subjects I needed help with. It all paid off, I got into nursing school!

I purchased the online package from ATI and a friend gave me a year old paper copy of an ATI study manual. I remember things better if I am writing them out, the the paper copy helped me a lot (also good to have when you are on the go and have no wifi). It also helped me a lot to just have blank paper with me to draw systems or write out things I needed to remember.
