  1. There are a lot of nursing students that have previous undergrad degrees and even graduate degrees. Nursing is a career that is very attractive as a second career, I guess. In my program the oldest student was in her 60s and this was a traditional BSN program. We had people in their 30s, 40s, 50s also. So you will definitely not be the old one. I would recommend to jump into a RN program.
  2. Apparently a lot of us misunderstood your post, then.
  3. When you are adding medication to a fluid, you usually just count the fluid amount.
  4. No conversion. The med Cefazolin sodium (ancef) 2gm is dissolved in 100 ml of NS. It's just 100ml. Yes, I think you are over thinking.
  5. (Shakes head) Move along. Nothing to see here.
  6. Does that make sense? Any questions?
  7. The bolus of NS is counted twice because its every 4 hours.
  8. Lactated ringers 150ml/hr (150*9=1350) Cefazolin sodium (ancef) 2gm iv with piggy back in 100ml normal saline 2units of packed rbcs @ 275 ml and 250 ml Bolus of 250ml normal saline every 4 hrs Ranitide (Zantac) 50mg iv in 50ml DSW over 30 minutes Answer is 2525 mL. 1350+100+275+250+250+250+50=2525
  9. Basically you just add up the numbers. The first one is LR at 150/hr which comes to a total of 1350 for the total 9 hour surgery. then the next.
  10. I just found this question on ATI it states "Cefazolin sodium (ancef) 2gm iv with piggy back in 100ml normal saline" not 200 so I got the right answer.
  11. This is simple addition. But you're right, I don't get that answer also. There are mistakes in textbooks sometimes.
  12. In Texas you can take it up to 8 times a year (45 day waiting period between each exam). I believe that most all states have a rule that if its been 2 years since you graduated, you must take a refresher.
  13. For surviving pathophysiology, Dr. John Campbell's videos on youtube are awesome. Dr. John Campbell - YouTube
