Hello! I am currently a pre-nursing student. I am about to take ATI test for Nursing program. However, I have no idea of ATI. I was searching on google and found out that TEAS is part of ATI? So, does that mean I can study by using TEAS books for ATI test? Also, in ATI testing, is there math, science, English questions like TEAS? So basically ATI questions will be general critical thinking questions or critical thinking questions applied to nursing situations? HELP ME OUT! PLEASE I AM AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT, SO MY ENGLISH IS NOT ENOUGH GOOD. IT WILL BE VERY TOUGH FOR ME TO TAKE THE TEST.

May 5, 2013 TEAS is created by ATI, it is used as a pre-admission assessment test. ATI also offers exams that are used as assessment tools during the nursing program. When nursing students refer to ATI in their programs it refer to the nursing program assessments in areas such as maternal-child, nursing fundamentals etc.You can read about the different assessments offered by ATI: https://www.atitesting.com/Solutions.aspxIf your English skills are not good, consider checking with your school if they offer any ESL (English as a Second Language) services or tutoring to improve your communication skills and English language comprehension. This can be a huge barrier when progressing through a nursing program, clinical rotations, and ultimately the NCLEX exam.TEAS is a pre-nursing assessment

May 6, 2013 Look at the link i listed above, it explains the different services and assessments offered by ATI. ATI creates and administers the TEAS which is a pre-nursing school assessment or entrance exam. ATI also offers an assessment program that is utilized throughout a program to assess progress and competency against a national benchmark in various disciplines(pediatrics, med-surg, pharmacology, OB, etc.) and a comprehensive assessment that is predictive of NCLEX pass rates. They also offer a post-graduation NCLEX tutorial and prep service that can be ordered by a school or individual students.Since you state that this is a pre-entrance exam, the only pre-entrance exam offered by ATI is the TEAS exam. Therefore the ATI study guide to the TEAS would be a good starting point. We also offer a moderated forum on allnurses.com for tips and information relating to preparing for the TEAS assessment: https://allnurses.com/teas-exam-help/(The TEAS forum is moderated and all posts must be reviewed by a staff member before appearing in public view)

walke274 48 Posts May 6, 2013 pkkunchan,I myself had to take the "ATI - critical thinking test". There are no direct questions regarding math, science, grammar, etc. It is a test that assesses how well you can read and understand a specific given scenario within a very short/specific amount of time. As previous posters mentioned before, ATI is a company and it does in fact create the TEAS test, but my school has decided to use the "ATI - critical thinking" entrance test in place of the TEAS. I found another poster's information that was posted in regards to the different types of questions on the test and what components of your competency they are scoring based off your answers: Interpretation:to understand, comprehend, decipher, and explain the meaning of written materials, verbal and nonverbal communications, empirical data, and graphics.Analysis:to examine, organize, categorize, or prioritize variables such as signs and symptoms, evidence, facts, research findings, concepts, ideas, beliefs, and points of view.Inference:to draw conclusions based on evidence, to differentiate between conclusions/hypotheses that are logically or evidentially necessary and those that are merely possible or probable and to identify knowledge gaps or needs.Explanation:to explain, in writing or orally, the assumptions and reasoning processes followed in reaching conclusions, and to justifying one’s reasoning/conclusions in terms of evidence, concepts, methodologies, or contextual considerations.Evaluation:to assess the credibility of sources of information, to assess the strength of evidence, to assess the relevance, significance, value or applicability of information in relation to a specific situation, and to assess information for biases, stereotypes, and clichés.Self-Regulation:to continuously monitor, reflect on, and to question one’s own thinking, to reconsider interpretations or judgments as appropriate based on further analysis of facts or added information and to examine one’s own views with sensitivity tothe possible influence of personal biases or self-interest.Hope this helps a little ;-)

pkkunchan 10 Posts May 6, 2013 Thanks so much. so TEAS and ATI critical thinking is different one right?
JustBeachyNurse, LPN 1 Article; 13,952 Posts Specializes in Complex pedi to LTC/SA & now a manager. Has 13 years experience. May 6, 2013 Correct. Critical thinking is not the same test as the TEAS. You need to confirm with your prospective nursing program as to which test you are required to take pre-entry. Many schools use TEAS, but not all schools.
