Does anyone have any sample letters/template for an email I'm trying to get together to send out to the teachers at my school? This is my first year being a school nurse and I've allowed myself to be a "pushover" unfortunately. So, I'm trying to gather my thoughts and remind the teachers that I'm out of the building for my lunch time and one hour in the afternoon that I am expected to spend at another school. Lately, I've had 3-4 students sent down 5 minutes before I am to expected to leave and be up at the other school. Please know I am not talking about emergencies, but rather stomachaches, splinters and other minor things. I am just trying to find a polite way to remind them. Any advice welcome!

Can you tell them that you can't see kids after 15 minutes before you are supposed to leave? Who takes care of the kids medical issues when you are not in the building?

Hey all!
Just a reminder that I will be at (the other school name) from 1pm-2pm. Any student that wants to be seen from 12:45-2:15 will have to wait, or be sent to the main office.
Thank you!
The office staff (clerical) handles them when they come up while I'm away- but if I leave while they are coming in and I ask them to take over- I get flack. I don't know. I guess I just need to really need to grow some thicker skin here. I appreciate y'all's help!
They need to stop flacking you, or get another nurse for the other school.
Darn COB clerical staff.

Tell your office staff that it's not an option with you leaving. You have to go. If they don't like it, they can take it up with your Principal. End of story. As you get more experience, the courage will come, to tell it like it is. Hang in there and don't allow yourself to be bullied. You are doing a GREAT job !

Sometimes if you clarify emergent vs. non emergent, it helps.
I am here during my 1/2 hour lunch for EMERGENCIES, though some teachers view a headache or stomach ache as such.
They are still sending nonsense down, but it has gotten better.
Maybe this can help.
Emergency/Urgent Vs. Non Urgent
URGENT ISSUES:
*Possible anaphylaxis
*Significant head injury or possible concussion
*Large laceration or burn
*Severe sudden onset of head pain
*Loss of consciousness
*Severe, heavy nosebleed
*Potential broken bone or other serious trauma
*Seizure
*Choking
*Respiratory distress in known asthmatic. (Not just winded after recess, etc.)
NON URGENT ISSUES:
*Minor bumps/bruises
*Small cuts
*Stomach aches
*Headache without know migraine history
*Sore throat
*Itchy eyes
*Minor nosebleed
*Report of minor injury from home
*Cold symptoms
*Vomited (May rest with adult until RN back in building.)
