TCU Jan 2019/SRNA advice in general

Published

Hi!

I have been rejected from 2 CRNA schools in my area and I am feeling at a loss.

I plan on applying to TCU for Jan 2019 and it will be my top choice since I will be moving to Dallas for my significant other's job.

Those who have been accepted in the past- do you mind posting your stats or letting me know what they really look for?

I will have 2 years CVICU, 1 year ICU float pool, all at level 1 trauma academic medical centers before application, CCRN-CSC, 3.3 GPA (went to a top nursing school that is highly regarded that no one had over a 3.5 in because it is a huge weed out program). I have taken 2 grad courses (Adv patho and Adv pharm)- A's and I am considering taking Biochem to boost my undergrad science GPA.

Currently waiting to hear back from TWU but have not yet.

I have a letter of rec from an anesthesiologist, CRNA, and nurse manager.

Any advice is appreciated.

Had my interview this week, wow a lot tougher than I thought. Very difficult to read, but everyone was very nice. Fingers crossed.

What made it tough? Did they ask more clinical questions than you were expecting?

Did they say when we would be notified of decisions?

They said middle of September. They are making decisions this Friday.

I think it was just my nerves more than anything to be honest. Clinical questions were kept to a minimum. Just stay calm and confident.

Next week decisions should go out. The remainder of interviews are this week, letters sent out next week.

Was one of the panel interviews a lot more intense than the others? Were there several in-depth clinical questions?

Do they send an email or an actual letter to our home addresses?

They told me they will send out both emails and letters.

There were not very many clinical questions at all- mainly personal. Although they did ask some basic things pertaining to my unit.

Great, thanks! They didn't ask me any difficult clinical questions either. In fact, the interview was really laid back. In both interviews they were really nice! I was expecting way worse.

Did the faculty tell you that? I called yesterday and she said it would be late September-early October. I hope we find out sooner. I know that they are still interviewing, but the wait is terrible!!

Yes. That's what they told me at the interview. Looks like last year the last interview was on a Friday and they found out 5 days later on Wednesday.
