TCU CRNA program for January 2017

Published

Hello all,

I am working on submitting my application for the 2017 CRNA program at TCU. Feel free to post questions, words of encouragement, and any advice you may have as we start this journey. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Thanks, good luck on yours too!! Here's to hoping for a 302 or better on the first go around :o are you planning on applying anywhere else?

I'm not real sure.. I've looked into some other schools but nothing has impressed me as much as TCU thus far(distance from home, clinical sites, class size, pass rate). I'm not sure if applying to other schools would look bad to the interview panel or not. Someone in a previous forum mentioned that they portrayed during their interview that TCU was the only school they applied for and thought that garnered some likes. However, I hate leaving all my eggs in one basket... what are your thoughts?

Ugh same dilemma!! TCU is by far the only school I'm really gung-ho about. I'm looking at some other schools in the southeast, but most of their deadlines are after TCU's. So just applying to TCU at first, but I totally feel the same way as you. Hopefully the fact that we may just be applying to TCU looks good for us and works in our favor [emoji12] you from DFW?

Yeah I hear ya... I'm from Oklahoma actually. I guess we will see what happens as things get closer!

I'm currently an RRNA at TCU in the online portion. During my interview I was honest and said I had applied to 3 other places, because becoming a CRNA was my dream, but that TCU was my first choice. No one made it seem like that was an issue, and clearly I was still accepted. I think it's important to show that you care about where you attend, but that you want to be a CRNA so bad that you are willing to invest the time and money to broaden your options. Good luck!

Good Day Guys,

I don't know if you guys have seen but there has been a blog for this for the last several years. They have some good advice on there. I have submitted my application already just waiting to finish the letter of recommendations and clinical verification forms. Only have one of those left and recommendations should be done soon as well. It is my understanding that if you qualify you get an interview. So it's the interview that makes or breaks. It is tailored towards your bedside manner and ability to think under pressure. Or it was from what i read from last years post. They have some recommended reading for applicants. Would suggest reading it. If you need any suggesting about CCRN I just past mine a couple of weeks ago. Made 110/125. Could give you some advice, type of questions if wanted.

Hey there Brandotyson,

I have also been following the previous forums for this school and think they provided some very beneficial insight! Good luck with everything!

MedicRN204, where are you at in Oklahoma? TCU is one of the schools that I have been looking at since I decided to go into nursing. CRNA is actually the reason I went into nursing. I'm at Hillcrest in Tulsa and I'm about to start in our MSICU next week after almost a year in our Step Down ICU. Currently working on my BSN and should be down at the end of 2017.

CowboyMedic,

CRNA is what pulled me into nursing as well. I'm working in a Cardiovascular ICU in Norman and have 2 years of experience. Just finished my BSN and will take the GRE by the end of May. Keep up the good work, that MSICU experience should help a lot!

Application deadline is fast approaching. I have everything submitted on my end and will take the GRE next week. How are things going for everyone else? Anyone getting nervous yet? I feel like now its a waiting game and I'm just ready to hear about interview dates!

I have all my required documents gathered and all my tasks completed, but still working on finishing up my personal statement. Then I will be sending everything in! Hopefully should be done in the next week or so. I'm hoping I didn't wait too long. I'm getting ridiculously nervous and can't stop second guessing myself on my personal statement!

I know what you mean, I worked and reworked mine a few times. You should still be good at this point as long as you get everything submitted within a week or two. The website says that completed early applications will get preference for interviews.
