TCU CRNA program for January 2016

Published

Hello everyone!!! I know, a little early. I just can't wait for application period to come around. Currently taking a Chemistry course to boost my GPA some. Looking to hear from other future applicants. Go FROGS!

That is slightly odd that they didn't double check your application before emailing you. I take the GRE Friday so I will have it in on time, but I just hope the score is adequate because I don't really know what to expect. TCU will be the first school I am applying to so I'm hoping it works out! With the higher class size I have hope! I considered Texas Wesleyan as well but I do not want to move. I have only taken one General Chem course or else I would apply to Baylor and UTC Houston as well. Hopefully that doesn't set me back at TCU.

It was odd, totally stressed me out for a little bit. I didn't think the GRE was too bad, as long as you have prepared some you should be fine!

Do they only email if something is missing from the application file?

Who was the email from?

The secretary I believe. I had called that morning to ensure they received all my materials, and she said they had. Then, an hour or so later, she emailed me asking if I had taken the GRE. She found the forms and everything so it's fine now, but I would definitely call if I were you to ensure they received everything and your application is complete!

I see. I wish they would email confirmation that they have everything you sent. Otherwise you're left wondering. I'll definitely call to make sure.

Yeah, I don't think any schools really do that though. I've been in contact with all the schools I applied to, just in case. I would hate for a silly technicality or mistake ruin my chances. The office staff is really nice and helpful though so you shouldn't have a problem!

Anyone else finding their admissions essays to be saying the same thing?? Lol

What do you mean? Like the essay for different schools, or TCU's essay being repetitive?

I mean that all my essays are sounding the same. I guess each school pretty much asks the same thing. What is your interest in anesthesia and how have you prepared for the program?

Yeah, I copied and pasted a lot for my essays haha.

I will be finishing up my application for TCU in the next two weeks. Nothing like waiting until the last minute right? I slightly decided to apply to TCU on a whim. I will be an out of state applicant. I take the GRE this Friday. Mace8704, do you know if I do not make the required 302 on the GRE will I still be considered? I would obviously retake within the month and have it in probably right around June 30. My stats seem to be slightly lower than everyone else's, especially when it comes to GPA.

GPA: 3.4, 3.47 BSN

1 year MICU, 1.5 years CVICU(At a large surgical center in which I participate in a nurse-run ECMO program so we do not have perfusionists at the bedside 24/7 like some places. I usually care for an ECMO patient at least once a week, so I feel that this will help out my application.)

CCRN, ACLS, BLS (No PALS yet and will not have it by the application deadline but I was told that I will be able to get this after the application is due and will still be considered as long as I obtain it before my interview.)

I am excited about the idea of going to Fort Worth! It is fun talking to all of the other applicants. Good luck to everyone!

My overall GRE score was 305, but my quantitative score was 1 below what they wanted (150 versus 151). My writing score was a 3.5 and they stated they wanted a 4.0. I was still accepted with a GPA of 3.49 (2 Cs in undergrad nursing courses but A-Bs in the important science courses). I also applied last minute. Unlike you, I had a PALs completed.

IMPORTANT NOTE, I had not shadowed a CRNA prior to my interview. The admission board grilled me on this in the interview. Might want to shadow a CRNA to avoid this debacle.

Mace8704, thanks for the input. I took my GRE today and got a 305 (154 verbal, 151 quantitative) so I am happy with my score although it seems much less than others in this post. I am not sure what I made on the writing portion yet. I have shadowed a CRNA so I guess I have that in my favor. I am hoping to just get an interview and go from there! I stilll have to tweak my resume an write my admissions essay but I am so happy to have the GRE behind me!

I remember feeling sooo relieved once I was done with the GRE! Mace8704, do they ask your CCRN score? I feel like that may help me, haha.
