Hello everyone!!! I know, a little early. I just can't wait for application period to come around. Currently taking a Chemistry course to boost my GPA some. Looking to hear from other future applicants. Go FROGS!

Thanks for responding! It's always nice to hear from those actually in the program! Any comments about debt incurred or study time/habits would be greatly appreciated! Also tips for the interview!

The first 8 months of the program are all online. I'm finishing up the 5th month currently. They encourage students to work full time during this first 8 months. So far, the classes are primarily discussion board assignments with specific instructor requirements (min. 150 word topic responses, respond to two peers, respond to all peers who posted on your topic response, cite sources in AMA) You'll also have 3 written assignments during a semester. Lastly, certain classes have 5-10 question exams at the end of each unit. When it's all said and done, I'd say I'm spending about 3-4hrs a week with the discussion boards and reading assignments. The assignments for each class require about an extra 3-4 hours of work the week the assignment is due.

Tuition is $85,000 for 3yrs with the vast amount of debt occuring from fall semester of your first year and spring semester at the very beginning of your second year.

Thanks! Does pretty much everybody borrow just the tuition? Or do people borrow living expenses too?

It varies from person to person. I am soley borrowing money for tuition. A co-worker of mine still has student loans from her undergrad degree and is borrowing money for grad school tuition and living expenses. Obviously, the less debt the better. Interest on the Stafford loan is ~7% and interest accrues while in school. I'd recommend an aggressive savings regimen while you are obtaining your SRNA pre-reqs and applying to schools.

I will be finishing up my application for TCU in the next two weeks. Nothing like waiting until the last minute right? I slightly decided to apply to TCU on a whim. I will be an out of state applicant. I take the GRE this Friday. Mace8704, do you know if I do not make the required 302 on the GRE will I still be considered? I would obviously retake within the month and have it in probably right around June 30. My stats seem to be slightly lower than everyone else's, especially when it comes to GPA.

GPA: 3.4, 3.47 BSN

1 year MICU, 1.5 years CVICU(At a large surgical center in which I participate in a nurse-run ECMO program so we do not have perfusionists at the bedside 24/7 like some places. I usually care for an ECMO patient at least once a week, so I feel that this will help out my application.)

CCRN, ACLS, BLS (No PALS yet and will not have it by the application deadline but I was told that I will be able to get this after the application is due and will still be considered as long as I obtain it before my interview.)

I am excited about the idea of going to Fort Worth! It is fun talking to all of the other applicants. Good luck to everyone!

It's so nice to hear from other applicants; the process is so stressful. I'm so jealous of your ECMO experience! I have no experience with ECMO, my experience is primarily open heart recovery. I'm not sure about the GRE score, but the admissions office is extremely prompt and kind so you may just want to shoot them an email or call. Same thing about PALS. I really hope it's true what they have on the website about interviewing everyone who meets the minimum requirements. Good luck!

Not sure about how strict they are with the GRE or having everything at the time of your application. They have always been so helpful and friendly when I've called to check on things so I would definitely call them.

Gassy2b, open heart recovery is great experience as well! I feel that schools are mainly looking for CVICU experience because the acuity of the patients right after surgery is so high. My personal CVICU does open heart recovery as well. We typically do ~5 cases/day I would say. ECMO is so much fun (most of the time). You always have to be on your toes for sure! I really hope everyone who meets the minimum requirements gets an interview as well! Has anyone here applied to other schools?

I'm applying to Texas Wesleyan and considering Baylor and UTH in Houston.

My hesitancy is TCU notifies admits before the other schools' deadlines. They also require your deposit and commitment before the other deadlines.

My plan is to hold off and overnight everything to the other schools if TCU doesn't work out this year.

I applied to Rosalind Franklin, Rush, and LSU, but TCU is my first choice. I was going to apply to Baylor but my fiancé and I both agreed that moving in January is just a little bit too soon for us.

I received an email yesterday morning from the admissions office asking if I had taken the GRE. I have and my scores were sent to the office months ago, and I included my scores in my application, so I found that odd. But, they made it seem like it was okay as long as it was taken soon, so perhaps it is okay if they aren't in by the time of application.

That is slightly odd that they didn't double check your application before emailing you. I take the GRE Friday so I will have it in on time, but I just hope the score is adequate because I don't really know what to expect. TCU will be the first school I am applying to so I'm hoping it works out! With the higher class size I have hope! I considered Texas Wesleyan as well but I do not want to move. I have only taken one General Chem course or else I would apply to Baylor and UTC Houston as well. Hopefully that doesn't set me back at TCU.
