Applied to TCU's Nurse Anesthesia program to start January 2015. Thought it would be interesting to see what people's progress/updates are these next couple months, and any advise someone may have to offer. Let the wait begin....
More personal overall. To find a CRNA to job shadow, I spoke with an RN in charge of my current employers observation program. I had to write an essay explaining why I wanted to shadow and complete an application. The process took approximately a month to line up. This observation program is open to people who were not employed at the hospital. If you live in the Dallas area, I could provide you with her contact information.
Yes pls send me the info. I live in Dallas. Thanks a lot.
Her name is Alitha Jones. She is a nurse educator at Parkland Hospital. Her work email is [email protected]. She will email you the application and essay forms. The form will ask you specifically who you want to shadow. I'd recommend putting Vernon McCullough. He's the chief CRNA at Parkland.

That's great. Thanks a lot. Did you shadow Vernon? How many hours did you shadow?
mace8704,So, that shadowing program is (also) for non-Parkland locals? I am interested in. Will contact that nurse educator because I want more shadowing in DFW area (so far 2 was done at level 1 trauma). Thanks for the info!!
From my limitied experience with the program, I am under the impression they do allow for RNs not employed at Parkland Hospital but actively in the process of applying to CRNA school to job shadow a CRNA. The application process is very thorough and may take a couple months to line up.
Hey guys/gals,
I'm graduating nursing school here in December with my Associates.
In January I will begin my RN-BSN program; I also have an interview lined up for a GN position in the ICU at the hospital I am currently a PCT for.
Right now I have a 3.2 overall GPA and 3.5 science GPA.
After graduating I plan on working ICU for 2 years, both for the experience as well as to save up for tuition.
What tips do you guys have for getting accepted into TCU's CRNA program? I know they want the whole package, what did that mean for each of you individually and what ultimately lead to yalls acceptance?
By the way, congrats on those of you who got accepted. I hear it is no easy feat and each of you have my admiration for accomplishing this.
