TCC Spring 2016 Applicants

Published

I hope it's not too early to start a thread for those who are planning to apply to TCC this summer for Spring 2016. I will be applying with one A and two B's. I'm getting ready for my HESI test and I hope to get a good score. For those who have applied before, has anyone ever been accepted with one A.? I'm hopeful and also nervous. So let's get the ball rolling, and help encourage each other.

I will apply tomorrow with GPA 3.0 and HESI 91%... 47 points should be good enough.. :)

Good luck Verbinna! It Might be rough getting in with a science gpa of 3.0 but Spring is generally a tad bit easier to get in to, so I hope you make it.

Honestly I'm uncomfortable with my one B. So much so I'm retaking the class for fall. And if I don't get in for spring, I'll also retake my 92% HESI. But the last couple days I've been feeling kind of confident so here's hoping.

It goes 50/50 GPA/HESI. So far 47 points was enough to get in... If I won't get accepted I will take another HESI to improve result :)

It is 50/50 hesi and GPS. Perhaps I'm missing something, I can be pretty derpy, but I'm not sure how you're calculating a 47. By my accounts, and by how it's been calculated so far, you have an 85.5, and most get in with a close to 90 or above.

GPA (80)+ HESI (91) = 171 Divided by number of variables (2) = 85.5

Lowest I saw get in last semester was an 89.

Maybe they've changed it though.

So I did my HESI A2 yesterday, and I got 82% overall. I have above 75 % on each section expect for grammar which I got 70 %. On the website it says that you must have >75% on each section of the HESI. So I'm looking for another place where I can retake the HESI again. Does anyone know where I can do Hesi around DFW area.

Why GPA is 80? Gpa 3/2 = 1.5. Hesi 45.5. 45.5 + 1.5= 47...

Jothos: I went looking, but the only places I found require you to be enrolled in their schools :( Hope you find something.

Verbinna: That's not how it's calculated. It's 80 because that's the number out of 100 that represents all B's. If you have all A's it's 100. All Cs is 60. Add that to the hesi score and then divide by two. I'm not completely sure of the numbers representing grades but I do know both numbers (hesi and grades) are out of 100 and then averaged.

That is strange.... How would you calculate one "C" and HESI 96... ?

"So the Information Session this morning was basically over the PowerPoint presentation, but it was nice to hear the application process from Ms. Aultman herself. :) Her suggested scores are a 4.0 and 90% on the HESI. She said that would basically guarantee you acceptance. But she also said that someone was admitted last semester with a C and 96 on the HESI, so there's hope if your grades are lower and you kill the HESI!"

2As and 1C = 100 + 100 + 60 = 260 Averaged out = 86.6

86.6 + 96 (Hesi) and then averaged = 91.3

Having that high. Hesi score helped a lot in that case. But so did having 2 As.

Got it.. Thank you :)

So.. C=60(why not 70?), B=80, A=100(why not 90?)... Seems strange...

Thanks Allyune, i think i will do it through prometric testing centre. I think having 2 A's is pretty competitive. Good luck to all of us.

How exactly are the points added up for entry? I have three A's and a 91% hesi. I'm just trying to figure out my chances. I just applied Aug 10th and want some relief from my anxiety:(
