TCC Spring 2016 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I hope it's not too early to start a thread for those who are planning to apply to TCC this summer for Spring 2016. I will be applying with one A and two B's. I'm getting ready for my HESI test and I hope to get a good score. For those who have applied before, has anyone ever been accepted with one A.? I'm hopeful and also nervous. So let's get the ball rolling, and help encourage each other.

Aliyune- o that's awesome. Yea I never have had a titer go my wayí ½í¸ž

I do however wanna check out this health Dept for a pneumonia (prevnar) vaccine. I'm newer to Texas and didn't realize your health departments did vaccines here. Awesome! thanks!

They only do vaccines in my former state if you were at serious risk for disease outside of work or school e.g., IV drug user, family member with Hep, etc

Wildearth have you only completed the 3 sciences at this point?? I have ALL of the pre-reqs needed in order to graduate with my ADN... After this semseter, I will only have a couple left in order to be ready for a Bachelor's program.

@jothos200 Thank you. Honestly I only used grammar quizzes that I found online. A lot of the quizzes were directed towards younger people but were helpful.

To everyone else who plans to bridge to a BSN program after graduation - what made you choose an ADN program first instead of trying to go straight to BSN? I applied for both ADN and BSN programs but I will honestly be happy if I only get into TCC. Yet since I've attended a university previously (didn't do well/didn't graduate) I'm getting a lot of slack for "going backwards" towards an Associate Nursing degree.

I just fell in love with TCC from taking the pre Reqs there. I even work there part time as a supplemental instructor. Once I researched it I realized it would be much more cost effective to get a cheap ASN and start working and get my bachelor's in just a year of online classes. I don't really understand going straight to BSN unless your fresh our of high school or money is no concern. Or if you can't get into a CC because of competition or whatever.

I heard that first time applicants to UTA without being a student there normally get denied their first go around... And the app periods are dif. I have intentions of applying in january but .. If I get accepted to TCC... I think i will just do it this way. I think it will be more manageable since i plan on working plus kids

@cparsons0906 Oh no, I'll have everything done after this semester for my BSN except a history, government, and stats.

I chose ADN because I also really fell in love with TCC, and because it's more budget-friendly. I am planning on continuing through Masters level, so every little bit of savings counts.

@wildearth i am taking federal govt..stats..algebra and sociology right now. Nervous to say the least.

Does anybody have tuition info on bridging with tarleton.

I just got a call from a hospital that is partnered with uta for a job position.... If i worked there and applied to uta online program... It almost guarantees acceptance. But I am not sure what is best for me quite yet.

So there are several reasons why I chose ADN over BSN. The biggest being cost. I have a bachelors and the amount of debt I have from that degree is insane. Money is not the driving force for my wanting to become a nurse but I definitely want to be able to enjoy my career but also my family. I see a lot nurses and doctors that loaded down with debt and they work 6 days a week at multiple places. Another big factor is that majority of the nurses I know swear hands down that an ADN school prepares better nurses skill wise. I've know several nurses in leadership positions that stated they would hired an ADN over a BSN any day BUT some have been forced to change their tune due to Magnet. The residency programs still seem to be 50/50. My work had 6 people graduate nursing school last spring and only 1 was a BSN grad but all found jobs. I'm on probably on the older end of some students so I have a family to help support and an ADN program comforts me in the fact that no matter what happens I can afford to pay out of pocket.

Hey guys! My name's Gabi and I'm currently in Foundations. I just wanted to say good luck to you all! I know how tremendously excited and nervous you all are, trust me..I would comb through past semesters threads all the time comparing my scores with theirs. The waiting game is tough, but it will all happen so fast once you've been accepted Lol so if anyone has any questions feel free to ask :) good luck again!!

I am so ready for September 15th!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see if I made it in or not í ½í¸í ½í¸í ½í¸

Is it still going to be the 15th? I heard later, but I wasn't sure.
