TCC Spring 2016 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I hope it's not too early to start a thread for those who are planning to apply to TCC this summer for Spring 2016. I will be applying with one A and two B's. I'm getting ready for my HESI test and I hope to get a good score. For those who have applied before, has anyone ever been accepted with one A.? I'm hopeful and also nervous. So let's get the ball rolling, and help encourage each other.

I turned in my application today with a 4.0 and a 98 HESI so I feel pretty confident. Kinda. I really enjoy these threads because the next applying class in a year can look back and see what kind of scores some people were applying with. Good luck to everyone and I hope whoever makes it excels in the program!

I only applied to TCC as well. I am doing pre-reqs for UTA as well though. And yeah, I totally stalked all the threads on here from semesters past. XD I'd get all excited for them even though it happened a long time ago.

I'm guessing by the end of the day they got close to 350 applications, but that's still a low number. That's pretty close to 50% chance XDD I'm feeling a little bit better about things now ~

I turned in my app today! She said there were around 300 apps this semester. She also said that with my scores (4.0, 95.5%), I would definitely be getting in! So excited, but I won't really believe it until I see an acceptance letter. ;)

I only applied to TCC. I considered El Centro but I'd really rather not drive if I don't have to, and TCC has a great program. I plan on doing my BSN Bridge at UTA, so I'm also spending this semester knocking out some of those classes while I wait. I'm taking English 1302, Federal Gov, History 1, and Lifespan.

I started a Facebook group, if anyone is interested in joining. Just so that we can get to know each other better while we wait and hopefully we can all just roll that over into a group when we all get accepted. :D If you search for TCC Spring 2016 Nursing Students, it should be there.

I'm slowly losing hope! :scrying: I only applied at TCC as well. I have a pretty good hesi grade however my science grades are average. I kind of wish I hadn't taken A&P 1&2 as summer classes (12 weeks total at weatherford) and as my first classes back in college after about 15 years of no school. I guess my back up plan will be an LVN program. Does anyone know if TCC has an LVN program? I haven't found any info online besides the fast track.

I pretty much knew you'd be in wildearth ;P Glad you got everything turned in on time! I feel a little presumptuous joining the fb group, but I will anyway XD

Tink don't lose hope! If you don't get in this go around you can always retake a class. But I'm pretty sure TCC does not have an LVN program. I'm rooting for you.

I am right there with you Tink. I'm slowly losing hope but if I don't get in then I will try DCCD or the LVN program at Weatherford.

I will say for all of you mentioned DCCD... be VERY careful applying there. Make sure you meet with their advisor first (who is extremely rude) and see all of the criteria you need before even having chances..... it may say online that you only need a few classes to apply.... however their acceptance is based off of a point scale.... and the more Pre - reqs you have completed... the higher points you get. you need a total of like 30-40 from what I remember to be really considered... and the classes they have listed as what you need to enter their program only equal to about 12 with perfect scores.

you might as well be ready to enter a bachelor's program if you are wanting to start DCCD... that is how many classes they base you on.

It was insane. The lady was extremely rude as well. After me and my step mom met with her.... we decided we would never go back there. I even told her that their website is kind of misleading to students then if they don't post this... and she said yeah i know.... like uh okay.... ???

I'm SO glad TCC isn't a point based system, though we might have a better idea of where we stand during the application process if it was. I do like that point systems set you up for BSN too, since our system is really just the bare minimum. But I like that everyone has an equal opportunity basically at TCC, and you don't have to take like 7 classes per semester to complete pre-reqs in a reasonable time and be competitive.

Well, I started this thread and didn't read the requirements well. I thought that we need TB after acceptance, but every immunization and TB skin test are needed during application. So I will be reapplying in spring, hopefully with 2 A's and a B. Also, I hope to hike my Hesi score. I am mad, but i think I will be more mentally prepared in fall than I would have been this spring and also my four month old baby boy will be a little older.

Did anyone get a Hep A Titer test.? How much did it cost you (without insurance) and how long the results take.?

I wish y'all all the best.

Wow, 98.8 on HESI is great score. Which book did you use, English is my second language and I am struggling mainly in grammar section.

Jothos- watch titers. They usually state you are insufficiently immune so you would end up having to get the vaccine anyways. Usually the titer only goes in your favor if it was pretty recent. I went to Passport Health for all my vaccines. I can't recall exact costs, but I know they were expensive like over $100 a shot (not series).

That's not entirely true. I got my MMR when I was a baby and came back immune to that. Got my Hep B series when I was going into elementary school and it also came back immune. Varicella came back insufficiently immune because they're learning that getting the disease doesn't actually protect you for life.

I got all my titers done through Tarrant County Health Department, and it took about four days to get it back. Unfortunately I don't think they offer Hep A anything :
