TCC Spring 2013 Applicants

Published

I have not seen a thread yet so I thought I would get one going for those applying for this Spring.

Thanks tkb89! I was convinced we wouldn't find out until December. I just looked in my packet and you are right, it says notified by October 31st! So exciting, this waiting around is giving me anxiety since I am afraid my HESI scores are not high enough. Good luck everybody, only a few more weeks!

Hello EO!! I'm new to this so please bare with me. Lol. I have applied into Tcc nursing program for spring 2013. My Science GPA is 4.0, however, my hesi score was 90 which really sucks. I'm really scared I won't get accepted because of my low average on my hesi. Does anyone know how Tcc nursing dept tally up the average? Oh by the way, I wish EO the best of luck :))

Monica that is a good hesi score! I think you will be fine with a 4.0 & 90. Good luck!

Thanks KLP151!!!! I surely hope so.

You should be fine! I have a 4.0 also but only got a 85 on my hesi. :( My vocab really brought my score down. The counselor I spoke with said that they do pay attention to the individual scores as well, so if you scored high on most and had one low then you should be fine. My goal was to at least make a 90 but I tend to panic during test and I second guess myself a lot. Next time I am sure I will do better. Good Luck!!!

@beck2331 Don't be discouraged! 85 was the class HESI average and 4.0 is above average for GPA!

2 questions for everyone out of curiosity:

1) How many currently work in a hospital/medical field?

2) What will be your plan B if you are not accepted?

I've worked for 2 years as a patient advocate/liaison for Baylor. I enjoy my job, but I can't wait to get into nursing school. My plan B is to apply to Weatherford College and reapply at TCC next app period.

Hello everyone! Sorry this is long winded

I have been stalking this thread for quite a while but hadn't said anything thus far but I was thinking it might benefit your nerves a bit to hear that I applied to TCC's Spring 2013 Nursing Program with a 4.0 and a 90.5 on the HESI. But as an alternate b/c I am awaiting TWU first and foremost. I have spoken to several people that are telling me the same with those very similar stats. With this in mind, understand several of us needed to have a backup but are planning on not taking the TCC acceptance letter if the other comes through. So, hold tight! No worries! The numbers are high now but the actual acceptance is reasonable. I went to a scholarship function last fall for TCC and got to sit with a bunch of TCC Nursing Program students and I asked them honestly what the actual acceptance stats were...I was AMAZED! They said they had a girl in the program that made a C in one of her sciences and several made 2 B's and 2 A's. When I turned in my paperwork one of the advisors said around an 85 was the cut for the HESI with two A's 2 B's usually and then grades go up from there. I was honest about applying elsewhere and they said that was extremely common and every year there are several denied acceptance letters by those applying with that situation. This is why there are several phases of letters going out! Hope this helps!!

So don't give up hope! All is GOOD!

Remember...

If God brings you to it, He WILL bring you through it!

I am a surgery scheduler for The Brown Hand Center. My Plan B would be to get into El Centro this semester. But I'm really Gunning for TCC. Honestly my GPA is a 4.0 and my HESI was a 95.6, so if I don't get in then, I don't know if there's much more I can do!

Thinking Positively!

I think we took the same Micro class at NE in Summer I. Am I right? I sat next to Mr. "Red Bug!"

I only applied to TCC; however if I don't get in I plan on getting a job and reapplying to the program. I will also apply to Weatherford, but I would prefer TCC. I have a 3.75 GPA and a 90.5 on the HESI, so we shall see.

Good luck to all!!

I only applied to TCC as well. Plan B is just working, taking A&P I over again then reapplying!

JGaw...The counselors have told me and my friends that. Last year they found out Oct 27th!
